Problem with not enough heat?

Alright so i have never used cob leds but would love to try them in a few months. I am moving to ireland in november where it will be 50-60 degrees most of the time so i was wondering if cobs will put out enough heat? I dont know the size of space ill be growing in yet but just in general how much heat do your cobs put out? If i need to use a heater i think ill just go with hid or cmh. Thanks for any help.

It depends on the wattage being used. 1000w HID being replaced with 1000w LED will result in the same ambient temp unless the exhaust is being vented outside in which case there will be a slight drop at the canopy due to the lower amounts of IR. Dropping from 1000w HID to 600w LED will results in 400w less of heat but it's still essentially a 600w heater in the space. 90CRI led and high PPFD would be worth considering for bumping up canopy temps.

My intake air was always about 69-70 degrees, 74-75 at the canopy, 55-58 g/sqft yields in DWC with PPFD between 730 and 780, spectrum was either 3000 or 3350, always 80 CRI. I was pretty happy with the results but maybe I don't know what I was missing. Still, yields were between 1.25 and 1.6 GPW in hydro. Always around 3.5 grams per par watt once I had everything dialed in.

Easiest solution if exhausting air is to use a thermostat fan speed controller. Mercury 4 is a great one. Never turns the fan off so humidity status in control but will only run fast enough to keep set temp. Fan size will also affect this as the lowest idle speed is 25% if I'm not mistaken. So go with a small fan. If it gets hot in the summer you could always add a second one.

Just use a system that allows you to control root zone temps, like DWC or AERO. Coco can be a bitch to work with in the cold if it is not buffered with calmag first.

I appreciate the responses guys. I guess ill know more once i know the space ill be growing in and can determine what size light ill need but its good know it could be possible to use cobs

Its not like here in ca where its no big deal at all but im not too worried about a few for personal use. Cbd is legal there and they passed medical use for serious conditions so lets hope i dont get deported haha. Im moving to be with my wife there and she wouldnt be too happy about that.
