"Problems" switching from CFL to LED?

I recently upgraded my veg cab from cfls to led. They look healthy, but growth has seemed to slow. Shown is a growing tip that has a red tinge to the new growth. In a panic I searched the intraweb but found very little negative info as many plants in nature have red new growth but I haven't seen it on my tweed before.

One thing I did find on the G8-450B grow light by G8LED site said... Remember to veg with LED growlights if you want to flower with LED growlights. Changing the light source from T5 or HID to LEDs during the flowering phase is very stressful for the plants. START with LEDs, FINISH with LEDs.
Well I guess I will find out how stressful it will be.

Mine did the same. I started mine with some cfls then moved to the 90w COB. Got the same slight purpling on some of the growth. Mainly the stems that were exposed.

It's also got really tight node spacings. Something that the cfls weren't promoting. No matter how close they were.

The only time I tried growing with CFLs was the very first time I tried growing. After that miserable failure, I never looked at them again, except when a friend of mine bought a Phototron. That was an underrated, genius piece of work. One of those would be pretty nice, retrofitted with strips and COBs.

But I digress...my experience with CFLs are limited; however, I did see the peculiar effects of LEDs immediately when I began testing them on tomatoes. The node spacing and leaf sets were tighter and smaller, respectively. So I could see how one would perceive that as being "slower growth".

I only use cfls to germinate and start seedlings until the cabinet is ready for the next batch.

Two lots of seedlings all have had stretch under the cfl. Then became tighter after the switch.

I've never had too much problem with cfl stretching. Keep em as close as you can and move lights daily. But I guess I will not be worrying about that anymore.

Yah...just hit reply for the next message you want to reply to, like this:
