I'm curious if this product is worth buying. The $ per watt is pretty incredible, so I'm expecting it would be total shit and a waste of time. Anyone have any experience with this light?

The light is 210 watts, estimating 20% driver losses here with the driver's I've seen in them, so more like 160 watts. 4x no name 100 watt chips, driven at 45 watts each. Total crap, but probably slightly better than marshydro.

I see these on eBay all the time. By a company called Sunnine. See the link.

My take. For $109 bucks I think it would probably grow a decent plant. If it works. But, looking at the sum of the parts, if the COBs suck, for $25-$50 you can replace them. If they will fit the drivers, heatsink and reflectors. And you can still use the drivers and fans. If all the electronics are junk, well at least you are getting a decent looking case you may be able to retrofit for your own COB design, driver, heatsink fans etc.

It's definitely a gamble. If you go for it tho, you should at least take the case apart and share pics of the electronics inside.

I agree with shadow moose. His wattage numbers are probably close.

I say go for it.

I swapped cobs on a roleadro 400w (2 cob) light. It had 4 36v 1200mah drivers inside, and I only needed 2. It worked out well
Thanks. I've been curious about if that would work. So I assume the drivers work well enough and are trustworthy enough and also the fans? Did you by chance do a journal of your upgrades? Was it as simple as just replacing the COB? Would love to see inside the case pics.

I'll be tearing this one apart in may, I just posted on led users unite with a similar question. But untill we know what the internals are it'll be a mystery. Mine doesn't arrive untill later today but I'll crack the case and take pics tonight or tomorrow. It's the same brand up sized so it should have the same or similar components.

At 150 bucks it's at least a kick ass, single plant light, I paid half that with coupons prime and gift cards.

Lol I'm going to watch growmaus videos all day.
Would it be prudent, once the parts come in, to do a sh¡tty amazon led upgrade thread?
Sunnine/roleadro/mars makeover tips, for the crazy broke ass diy'er.
I'm not putting you down man I'm in the same boat and have grown some beauties on cheap led.

i bought one. only 3 cobs worked

you can do a lot more with $100

those are probably blurple, the one i got was

"full spectrum" blurple tho, lol
Hey man this reminds me of something. I bought my first generic Chinese Blurple UFO, 45 LEDs at 3W and it has a lot of hours on it. Around 2010-2011. It grows decent weed by itself though I've always used it as supplemental with CFL or HPS after the first Grow. I paid well over $100 bucks for it and it still works.

To the point.

When Blurple first came out I fell hook line in sinker for the marketing. NASA studied Blurple too I think. See, supposedly, Blurple ONLY uses the exact spectrums the plant needs. No wasted energy on green or whatever it doesn't need. It was designed to be efficient around the known "Science" of the plant of the time. Well. HPS proved that theory wrong in the real world over and over again. Maybe not wrong, but HPS did better. COBs weren't talked about back then. 8)

So now we have true full spectrum LED COB. Which is dialed in to be a little more red or blue depending on preference or in our case requirements of use. And it has all of these other spectrums that at one time some may have believed was a waste. Since the science of plants thought supposedly the plant doesn't use those other spectrums at all. And I think at this point that science has been proven wrong. Perhaps more red and blue benefits the plant. But, doesn't mean those supposedly wasted spectrums aren't used somewhere at the molecular level of the plant. Life evolved under the full spectrum of the sun and science is still early to be making definitive conclusions down to the molecular level. Science is amazing though. Just saying. The Blurple theory may not be definitively wrong. It just isn't perfectly right yet.

Now I still use my second Blurple UFO 60x3w circa maybe 2011-2012 and it still works like a charm too. But, several years ago I bought a small HPS. I use them both together. My theory. You have that full "warm red" spectrum from the HPS and those specific spectrums designed around what spectrums science think plants need the most from Blurple.

Those Quantum Boards are very interesting. I wonder how long it will be before the Science guys who designed the light that seems to work very well based on others reviews here. And I don't question that they do. But, in the LED world rarely does anything stay the same. How long will it be before they "improve" upon the design by updating it with an extra red or blue here and there. Like some of the DIY cobbers do. :-) Sell two models. One all white and another with a little Blurple. Make everybody happy. :bigjoint:

I've been an eBayer for at least a decade and a half. And purchased many things from China. They all worked and still do after YEARS of use. Only recently have I ever been burned from China. My 2 110v, 50w COBs I paid $4.22 mid December still haven't arrived lol. I'm not mad though. It's the Chinese New Year right? Maybe it will come.

Next on my plate? A single higher power COB. Maybe 50-150 watts Probably with parts from you. I don't hang my lights overhead in flowering. I hang them on the side. I usually grow 2-4 plants. So. Efficiency isn't a big concern. And I rotate the garden every day so, they get a little more of this one day and a little more of that the next. It works really really well. But, I get bored and like to tinker too.

I only really know that to grow weed indoors you need light. I use other people's R&D. When you go straight 12/12 like me, you're not worried about yield. You're sharing that goal with speed. And electrical use is pretty much inconsequential tho, you don't wanna be ridiculous either by wasting. 2 onions per plant are expected in as little as 8 weeks. I have gotten 4 tho from a single. Only once have I ever gotten under 1 onion except that time I trimmed flowers all the way through the last 4 weeks lol. I still got an onion and half the plant was gone at harvest! Haha.

Anyway, Just saying man. You're a science guy. Perhaps us hobby guys just wanna grow some dank sir. And we're doing it my brother and them flowers are delicious, plentiful for personal and tight too. :eyesmoke:

I swapped vero 18 se cobs into the chassis it is incredibly bright now like you need safety glasses or your vision is all grey after fooling around in the tent bright it’s worked great no issues the cobs bolted right into the heatsinks soldered some solid core onto the wires since my connectors were push in type you’ll have to re bend and drill the bar that holds the heatsinks to set the flush with the front plate as the reflectors will not work with the vero 18

Buy two broken record players, then you have something to rotate your plants in the light all day long.
