Can I use the tank that my butane came in as a recovery cylinder?

Im guessing yes, and i shouldve just distilled the whole thing and used it as recovery to start. Ive been wasting money on dry ice transferring to a smaller recovery tank over and over. So now I have another question- can a 12x12 base hold the full volume of a 20-24 lb butane tank?

A 12X 12 80% full holds 23.6 lbs n-Butane

Yes, but a refrigerant tank with Y valves and a dip tube works better overall.
