Get a load of this propaganda piece I just came across;

On Friday, public schools from high school on down will allow "gay and lesbian" students and their liberal friends and liberal teachers to remain defiantly silent.

The purpose? To disrupt the school day, bring attention to themselves, and label themselves as "victims" -- conveniently forgetting that those who practice homosexuality have more political "rights" than heterosexuals! These confused, liberal activists will wear pro-homosexuality t-shirts, deliver pro-LGBTQ speeches in classrooms of supportive teachers, refuse to answer teachers' questions in other classrooms, make it difficult for other students to concentrate, and generally take over campuses for the entire day.
According to the "Day of Silence" website, two years ago, this political takeover happened nationwide in 8,000+ elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as some colleges. School administrators will deny sponsoring, participating in, or allowing the "Day of Silence." But they will allow students to be silent nonetheless! As the homosexual activists themselves explain:

"The Day of Silence is a perfect tool for creating change. We wanted a queer-friendly prom, and after showing that many students and staff care -- we got a queer-friendly prom. We said we wouldn't be silenced and we won't."

"The Day of Silence can be a great tool to catapult change at your school! Do you want a more LGBT inclusive library, teacher training, LGBT inclusive nondiscrimination policies or something else?"

TAKE QUICK ACTION -- WALK OUT!
1. PUBLIC-SCHOOL PARENTS: If you're a parent or grandparent of a child in government-run schools, resolve to keep them home on Friday to counterprotest the pro-homosexuality "Day of Silence." Absent children cost the school district, and a school district that allows politically-correct disrupton deserves financial consequences. Get more information
2. EVERYBODY ELSE: Whether you're a parent or not, help parents in your community to protect their children and stand against immoral influences. Download our Action Flyer and hand out to parents picking up and dropping off their children in front of campuses on Wednesday and Thursday. Tell them, "Protect your children!"

If I understand it correctly, the whole day of silence is stupid as fuck to begin with

I am absolutely for equal rights but why would you bring that element to a place that is going to disrupt learning?

Yes it's only one day and it will bring attention to your cause, but at the cost of other individuals' education who want nothing to do with the matter

If I were a parent whose child's teacher was refusing to teach I would be livid

Protest on your own time and not someone else's tax dollar

This is what happens when you/we allow employees of a monopoly to unionize. Government employee unions should be dismantled and abolished.

The gay scene is definitely not my thing, but I am getting to the point that I really don't care because it doesn't effect me. If one is gay fine, just don't be all up in my face about it. Just like religion, be what you want, just don't come knocking on my door with a need to tell me about it.
All this is going to do is disrupt the classroom and put a spot light on those who choose to participate showing them to other classmates.
This may be my perceived stereotype, but why to they feel the need to constantly throw their sexual choice in peoples faces? I have never felt the need to throw my wife and kids in their faces.

Well, I am 41 and I didn't think anything I said was disrespectful or a flame in any way. I will say in my younger years I did not have much tolerance for homosexuals. With age I have become tolerant of what others do as long as they don't keep throwing it in my face. I didn't know this place was for the younger crowd...

Edit: I re-read and I think you meant to say if not over 18, don't be here.

Some of you guys are as dense as lead.

This shit is so riddled with propaganda and misinformation it could easily be passed off as satire!

"they dont realize that all that will do is piss off the normal people." - that's exactly the shit I'm talking about... obviously you homophobic fucks don't see them as equals. You just admitted it yourself.

Well whenever Conservatives open their mouths you can expect things to be sensationalized and blown out of proportion

I still see no point to the Day of Silence

I could reverse that and say homosexuals don't view non-homosexuals as normal people. I have heard the term "breeders" in describing straights. I tolerate them and do not discriminate against them, but in no way am I required to embrace them. Just like what people believe, I can respect their ideas and beliefs, but in no way am I required to embrace that either.
What I do with my wife behind closed door should remain there. Same with what everyone else does behind closed doors.

Lmfao @ "breeders" - I'd call a homosexual person an idiot if I heard them say that.

All I'm saying is tolerate them as much as you'd tolerate anyone else, no less, no more. Do you embrace straight peoples life style? Just treat them the same... it's pretty simple really.

People just have to realize this stuff is simply irrational, just like how a lot of people thought AIDS was contagious by contact, once you learn about it it just becomes irrelevant. You don't even think about it. People are just people, doesn't matter if they're straight or gay.

I can agree with that. I really don't care what anyone does as long as they don't keep tossing it in my face. I would not want to see a straight pride parade anymore than a gay pride parade...But I doubt a straight pride parade would ever be allowed, and if so, I still would not like seeing it.

Totally agree with this, but. The actual result of 'recognizing' special interest groups, divides the country. Doesn't matter if it's black history month, it's divisive, implying that some special group deserves it's own recognition.
How about a moment of silence for lives lost in war, or something that truly distinguishes someone through their efforts, not their status.
This seems to be a common theme in progressive thought, dividing us into groups. The intolerant on the right are no better, but at least, legally, religion and the schools don't mix. For some reason the 'religion' of the left is permissible.

lol you say it like the corporations do a better job. You will let the corporations control wages. Not like they have been proven to violate workers rights in the past to make a little extra profit.

However I do believe that when unions are created they do need some kind of check and balances involved because what kind of worker would not want a raise. It kills alot of businesses, but thats not the fault of the union its the fault of the greedy workers and not the govenment.

You may have missed the point. Government Worker unions should be abolished. Private Business unions serve a purpose.
Unions only work when there is PROFIT to share. The government has no profit, only the taxpayer to rely on. Our 'representatives' don't seem to be able to stand up to these unions, unlike private business.

that is some BS propaganda. im straight but i think all love is cool, and that were all equal, but by doing things like this they are admitting that they think were not equal. that by being a homosexual (or black or white or anything) they see themselves as personally better than the other party

I guess the right must trust government to do the right thing then, LOL. I smell hypocracy. Unions keep employers in line with workers needs, wages, health benefits, retirement benefits, etc. The Government, which you on the right so loathe, and always accuse of doing the wrong things, is now going to do right by it's employees? Yeah, hypocracy at it's finest. Oh wait, that's right, You guys on the right are all about no rights for employees, now it starts to make sense, fuck the workers, yeah buddy, right on target.

You cannot trust EITHER the government, corporations or the unions to "do the right thing", they are all out for wealth and power. Private sector unions offer a balance of power to management. Public employee unions do not have push-back from the government or profit to share. There is no balance. They don't serve management's interests, they serve the people's interests, and the people have no way to bargain with them and in this case, is not bankrupting a corporation, but the government and the people. Their "management" are our elected officials, and they are invalidated by a conflict of interest.
Let me go further by saying that government employees are "public servants" or "slaves to the taxpayer", and they don't deserve the rights and protections of the private sector. The military certainly does not. No one is forced to work for the government ( yet ), it would be voluntary servitude, just like any member of the military.
Can you even imagine a unionized military ?

Not the same and you know it. I worked Union most of my life. They are not perfect by a long shot. I witnessed a sell out, (My opinion) by my local Teamster union to the company. We actually took a 2.00 an Hr. cut in pay so the poor company could survive. The poor company that was pleading bankruptcy, went out and bought 20 new trucks with the money they saved on our wages. I believe there were some payoffs to the union bosses, can't prove it, but it smelled. But overall, the unions provided me with a comfortable wage and entitled me to a lower middle class existence. Do, I believe Government workers are entitled to be compensated fairly, yes I do. Do I believe the union helps this to happen, yes I do. Are there some crooked Union Reps, hell yeah, are there crooked congressmen, hell yeah. Are there crooked business owners, hell yeah. The unions don't have a patent on crookedness.
