hi all
i am 8 days into flowering, and was wondering if i should prune some fan leaves to allow more light to the lower part of the plant,
or is it a bad idea now that im in the flowering stage?
i have got some side lighting which is very close( just thouching the edge)
but there are alot of fan leaves blocking the light getting in.

also i am using tomorite for the flowering at 1/4 strenght.
when should i start to up it and when should i start to use it more frequent?,
at the moment i have used it 3 times in 8 days but i am still giving a small pinch of blood, fish and bones every 4th day.

cheers for any input :blsmoke:

maybe they are not blocking the light, maybe they are absorbing the light then converting it into energy to help the plant grow. those leaves are there for a reason. unlees they are damaged or dying do not remove any leaves.

Fdd2blk gives some wise info, I was just reading about some experiments regarding this. One thing that you can do to allow the light in, is to use some string, twist-ties, or whatever you have, and move the leaves out of the way to allow the light in. You'll find that you can get pretty creative in getting the leaves out of the way.
As I got close to the end of my grow, I actually did cut some leaves out of the way, and I don't regret it, but I was much further along that you.
Basically what the leaves do is give you nice large buds, cut them off and your buds will suffer.

Actually as I think about what I did when tying my leaves out of the way, you'll find you can take some of the big leaves by there stem, and literally bend them around the main stalk to keep them out of the way, go look at my grow journal, I did post some pics of this.
Peace.

i will leave them alone or try what videoman did and that is try and move them out of the way.

videoman did i see a candle in 1 of your pics if so what is that for and what does it do to the plants.
i am a noob :blsmoke:

No, you did not see a candle, or if you did, it was in a pic when I moved the plant to another room for the purpose of the pic.

I get the sneaking suspicion that you are curious about co2, if so, the 1st thing to learn is to have adequate ventilation.
New air= replenished co2.
That is the only totally free way of supplying co2, after that, there are some home made techniques listed in these forums, do a search as I am not farmaliar with these home made systems.
I have used this though, with great success.
CO2 Boost - All-natural CO2 Generators for the purpose of CO2 enrichment and air fertilzation

Heehee! I get such a kick out of you guys, (and many others who do this, too, of course!) The plants know how to grow, so they use all of their energy to grow just the way they want to, and then you guys think you have to move their leaves around and cause them all kinds of stress and wasted energy and weakened growth. And then you complain that your plants look like shit. :wall:

Leave them alone, and they will grow best. They put their leaves just where they want them to be. When they don't want them there, they will take care of it, no help from nosey micromanaging growers needed.

I have severly trimmed a few of my plants during the first couple of days during flowering,

there is a before and after,

i have trimmed them like this in the hope that it will stop the plant from growing any higher and it will just let the branches grow out.

hi videoman
yes you are right i am interested co 2
i have looked at C02 boost before, 2 things wrong with that
and that its a bit expensive (havent got that sort of cash), and i dont have the room.
i have got some sort of exhaust system(extractor fan at the top and inlet at the bottom)
was wondering if i would see a great deal of difference if i was using it.

here is a pic and you can clearly see the space i HAVENT got ,
only got about 26ins left (in height, nothing on the width) with 7-8 weeks of flowering left to go

is there anything else wich is smaller or that pumps it in, also cheaper lol
i know it asking alot but not sure what i am talking about lol
anyways cheers for the input so far :blsmoke:

Dude, do a search here for homemade co2. My only advise to you, if you go the home made route, is don't make only one bottle, make 4 to 6 bottles at once. Place them around your plant(s), above them slightly to allow the co2 to fall on top of your leaves.
Peace

I think that it is going to do exactly as you suspect, grow out.
Lots a luck with this one NGT.

You gotta respect a guy who, so willingly takes on so many experiments to venture into the unknown, and share his results with us.

Hmm I have been trimming leaves if they are overlapping or touching the ground (had some big fans i cut off already. But I am also trying to get the colas to start reaching for the light.
