pump for waste drain

for anyone like me, who is height limited and can't really setup a gravity drain due to losing grow height, I was looking for a pump to help me out. I just picked this up and think it will do me well:

it's low volume (3.5gph) but uses an air bladder so it supposedly can run dry without damaging anything. It's cheap, and according to what I've read, is long lasting as long as you make sure the water is filtered.

my cab is small (27in W x 33in D x 38in H) and I'm only going to run a few plants at first. It'll be fine for what I need. Also, for you guys running big setups, I'd think if you dialed in your feeds you shouldn't have many gallons of runnoff?

I actually run a recirculating system these days, but I've done coco grows where I've let about 5-10% run off.
I suppose that equates to about a gallon for 6 plants in bigish pots.. not as much as I thought, actually. :)
I was running direct into a drain tube at the time, so I wasn't really looking at how much went through.. just watered 'till it started coming through the bottom, then let it drain through.

Have you thought of wc set up? Last grow i used a Rubbermaid Roughneck tote; it's only ~ 6" deep.

It is critical to monitor pH and ppms daily during flower, as there is not much water to offset the root runoff. FYI that plant grew to 43", but you could simply LST or snap the main stalk and let it run horizontal under you lights[/COLOR

This is a much better pump for the same price. Even their very smallest pump will lift higher, doesn't need filtered water, and has no bladder to burst. I have a 1/2 dozen of these all the way to a pair of 1056s that will give 1000 gal/hr up 9 feet!

It was still way less than $100. Try ECO, you will like them. Easy to clean. Magnetic suspension rotor, no wear.

nice pump, but i don't think you can run it dry without ruining it in a hurry. that was my point on the other pump -- you could run it on a timer and not worry about whether or not you've run out of water to be drained. In my case, I'm not going to have a ton of runoff - maybe not even enough to properly activate a float switch.
