Question about extent of medical records...

Im looking to get legal soon, the only problem that i have is i see a lot of people mumbling about how you need 3 doctors visits in a certain span in the past. I have not had insurance for just about 2 years and rarely go to the doctor. On the other hand though i will be applying based on my major problem which is my back. I was born with an extra vertebrae in my lower back that has caused lower back swelling and pain on and off since i was about 12. I would say my chiropractic records would be more conclusive then any regular doctor visit i have taken. Now the twist is that since i haven't had insurance i have rarely gone to the chiropractor maybe twice in the past few years because he would take a look at me for free when my back was in severe pain. Would his records be sufficient enough even if they are 3+ years old and have a huge gap in them up until this point?

I have a very similar situation in terms of a long history of back pain (MRI proving herniated discs in upper thoracic), not many recent doctor visits (more chiro than doctor), and my mmj doctor took me at my word.

Thanks for the quick replies!

Just like everyone im just a tad iffy about where exactly to go... there are so many options and some of them just do not look up to scale but then again im not sure if i want to go to a place with a huge get legal sign in the front lol.

I live in Wa state and I had one doctors visit for a BS reason! LOL I broke my hand twice when I was younger, once on a 2X4 and another time on someones face in Canada. Well I heard about MMJ through a friend so I went to my doc and told him that my had started hurting lately and it seemed to hurt more when it was cold! LOL He x-rayed my hand and I had found nothing really wrong, but you can't really see arthrites on an x-ray. But since I led him to believe it was hurting more when it was cold he put down that it was the begining stage of arthrites. Forgive me if I didn't spell that right! But anyway I went to the weed doctor and told him that I didn't want to start taking pills for this shit and destroy my liver. I am only 33 yrs old too! ;) I was scared shitless that it wasn't going to work but he told me that alot of people are like me and are looking for an alternative to pain killers and off I went ith my MMJ card!

You can find the right doc to hook you up, just make sure that when you talk to them they aren't going to make you pay unless you are actualy cleared for a card. Just call them and ask, people on here aren't going to be able to give you a for sure answer. Just call some MMJ places and tell them your situation and ask them what you need. Remember these people are out to make money also, and like I said make sure they wont charge you unless you are going to get your card. I had to drive over two hours to see the MMJ doc and I told his nurse " Please don't have me drive all the way down there and take my money if I am not going to get my card" and she told me I shouldn't have a problem at all and that they wouldn't have me drive down there if they thought it wasn't going to go through.

In my state i am right at the minimum age for a card and i live in a college community. So i am young but i do also have problems with my wrists sometimes ( i broke both my arms at the same time about 8 years ago and my wrists are still sensitive to pain at times) but like i said my main concern is my back because its not debatable weather the vertebrae is there or not lol.

It is all about the money in Michigan, thats all they want. If you can make the story sound good then its a bonus.

I dont know maney doc's here in Mich that will sign without doc records. Every clinic we sent folks to demand long records and just wont TAKE YER WORD FOR IT. They want records or your out of luck. I know of several folks that got denied this way as most doc want records and history. Start by going to reg doc's and not your bone cracker as they prolly wont take he words either. Sorry but you'll need records.
We've a couple of court cases now where they tryed to go after the doc relationship and if they didn't have records to back them up would have been screwed so MOST good doc's want them...

that's not necessarily true, there are walk in clinics that will give you a recommendation after a physical. so, no, you do not need records necessarily, and a chiropractors records are just as good as any other. so not its not a "sorry but you'll need records" situation as it is not really necessary depending on your condition, and where you go. as for the courts trying to seek retribution on doctors, since there was no stipulation on the bona-fide relationship between a physician and patient, a single in person meeting and disclosure of condition and possible physical examination should suffice.
