Question about PH/PPM Meters

I have a question about PH/PPM/Temp meters. I've been shopping for meters and I've found that they range from really expensive to just kind of expensive.

I built my own DIY DWC system. Actually 2 of them and I know I need to keep up with my PH and PPM. Typically, I just use the traditional PH test kits (you know the ones based on color). I'm sure this gets me within range, but not really exact.

I've seen some continuous measure meters, but the guy at my local hydro shop led me to believe these kind of needed to stay with the system, hence continuous measurement. I think they also have alarms based on certain presets. Having two seperate DWC systems and maybe more in the future this doesn't really seem like a fit.

Has anyone had any experience with the PH/PPM meters? Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I'm just curious how everyone else is doing it.

Thanks in advance.
