Question...cfm ratings, ventilation, and carbon filters.

I have a question. I'm about to set up my first grow tent and i have a 6" vortex rated at 450 cfms. The fan will be used to pull air through a scrubber and an a/c hood. The shop recommended i get a carbon filter (13lbs of carbon, cfm:180-275). Even with all the bends in the tubing inside the tent, will there be any negative effects using the higher rated fan with the lower rated filter?

I do have a speed control, but when summer rolls around, i have a feeling the fan is going to be on full blast regardless just to keep the temps down.

BTW, the grow tent is about 156 sq. ft.

how many plants are you goign to have? You might be fine with just the carbon scrubber is it something like this?Im trying one of these right now we'll see how it works out.. Im debating on whether i need a big one like your looking at...pick one of those up on Ebay though there like a 1/3 the price(the large carbon filters)

i plan on probably having up to 6 plants at the most.

Doest the cfm rating on the carbon filters refer to the amount of air it is capable of effectively "scrubbing" or the actual airflow that can pass through it before becoming restrictive?

For example; will a 400 cfm fan have a harder time physically pulling air through a 350 cfm rated filter vs a 200 cfm one?

How is that cone filter working out for you? I'm thinking about taking my filter back to the store and exchanging it for the 370cfm one. I'll be venting directly out the window when it starts to warm up so i don't really want to take any chances.

Not sure yet.. I've only been running it a short time and the plants are small and clean smelling still=).. Im hoping it works but I have some suspicions I'll end up adding my other 6"exhaust fan on top of a large canister filter....
