Quick Harvest Question

Ok so currently Im growing, Hindu Skunk(indica dom), Northern Lights and Purple Kush...



Muy question is on the hindu Skunk..(which will cover the others as well=).
The trichomes on the skunk are milky white and I can see some amber on a few of the trichomes. The pistol probably about 50% have died back so far...
SHould I harvest or how many amber trichomes should I see first??? Im using a 60x-100xmicroscope for reference... I read in Jorge Cerveantes grow book that you should actually harvest right when the trichomes go to milky white but it seems the general consenous among people here and my buddies is I should wait till the go amber.. ANy help would be great!!

Jorge Cerveantes is a tool. he spreads WAY to much vague misguided info. i had several plants this year that produced cloudy trichs from the get-go. they would form and be clear for a day or two then go milky. it took 2 months of this before the FIRST amber trichs showed up. all the hairs did the same thing. turned brown within a few days. everybody kept trying to tell me they were done flowering. i let them go another 4 weeks. you really have to watch the "over-all" appearance of the plant and bud itself. it will change when it's done. it will look "done".

Thanks so much.. I actually read your harvest thread yesterday. My leaves are turning up slightly and slightly turning brown already.Maybe 5%amber trichomes.. Oh I forgot to mention Im at 7.5weeks of flowering and using all Advanced Nutrients I just flushed the whole system on Saturday and have been running just straight water(PH 6.5)... Moat of the hindu Skunk plant looks like your 4th picture in that thread but with only say 50% of the pistols died back..?whatcha think?Im about to whack it down=) Well contremplating I don't want to do it too early,.,... did that on my first outdoor and it sucked..=) The skunk is under one 1000w HPS... my other twelve plants are under another 1000w.. the Hindu SKunk is friggin huge!!4'tall 30"wide=)

i'd water with straight clean water for at least a week if not 2. so you will have to go at least until this weekend.

SOunds good.. I'd rather go a little longer than less... what is a good rule of thumb for the amber should most trichomes be amber or..Just starting to turn amber on soime? Thanks again this board is great( I usually just read everything though and don't post often)

Thanks a bunch you the man=) I'm going to harvest/trim a few lower branches that are ready then I think Saturday sounds like a good time for the whole huge ass plant... The purple Kush is looking beautiful every single leave is completely and totally covered in trichomes...=)underside of the leafs are turning purp on it.. There mostly milky white on those ones so pretty soon on them Im thinking=)... I think Im going to make some hash since I'll have so many good resinus leaves=) But that's another thread=)Im going to read more before posting anything about hash=)

Well I snapped a few pics but with three 1000w hps running in the room I can't good any good color pictures but you get the basic idea=)All the plants in the pics are 2 days shy of 8weeks into flowering.
Once again sorry for the coloring I dont know how to take good pics of the buds

The first ones are the Hindu Skunk
Up close the majority of trichomes are still milky with a some turning amber on each bud still . Alot of the pistols are still whitish color on the bud maybe 50%+ have turned color....






This picture is the Purple Kush I think Im going to let it go another week or so to get some purple coloruing out of it most of the trichomes are milky white some amber on a few of the buds..Most pistols are white still maybe 30-45%red


This last one is the Northern lights The trichs are mostly clear starting to turn mily on the tops of the plants(lower branches are milky already) the Calyxes though though are still full and I think these are still growing(this is a small cola compated to the others there about 10" 4-5"wide colas... The pistols are maybe 25%+turning red..

Thanks this is my first grow also=) I grew one plant outdoor over the summer that sprouted on its its own and well it wasnt all that great=) I think the Hindu Skunk is going to be harvested this weekend or early next week.Probably another week or so on the northern lights and the purple kush is right about there I was just int he grow room and alot of the leaves are fuinally starting to turn purp=)..Any suggestions for me to take better pics?

Heres a pic of the hindu skunk two weeks ago it's so huge it has a 1000watt hps all to itself..

i'd let them all go three more weeks. you won't be disappointed. i see potential for some fat nuggies.

Oh ow really.. Even with the slight amber on some of the trichs.. Now am I looking for like the greater majoirty to be amber=) I wanna make it right so f three weeks is good Im down=).. Thanks so much.. Any suggestions for me to get some better pictures do i just need to pull the plant out of the room with the hps Im thinking=)Thanks
