Hello to All

The Agent here and since search engine isn't working i had to post. I was just wondering whats the best medium to start a seedling in to be transfered to a dwc system? Such as peat pucks vs. rockwool vs. ? and so on.
I have a couple bagseed thats cracked and roots are peaking out of the shell. Any advice would be greatly appreciated?:weed:

Yea, I'm starting my first grow and all the research I've done a great majority of people use rockwool with clay pellets surrounding it.

hey man good news for you. ijust germed 10 lowryder 2s and did 5 rockwool 5 peat and the peat won hands down. wasn't really expecting that. plus the rockwool was slightly to tough for a couple seeds to break through and i had to help them. anyone had that problem? i wanted to know. it never affected any od them in the long run

Thanks for the reply. I wanted to give the peat pucks a try because i've never heard anything bad about them and the everyone started telling me rockwool.:bigjoint:

I don't think you will notice that much diff. but mine did sprout faster in peat. that was every seed faster in peat. rockwool worked fine but the seed had trouble pushing through the first bit of wool and it bothered me. When you use peat pucks do not remove the mesh from around it even when the roots come through. just stick it in the rockwool with mesh on. good luck

I used peat pucks. They work really well I think. No problems but maybe a bit messy. My roots had no problem growing right through the mesh.

thanks for the backup man. peat all the way until rockwool for me from now on!! lol the only stupid thing is that the peat puck is just the littlest to big to fit the precut hole and you have to really wiggle it in there gently

hey man!
ive been growing DWC now for about a year...i found the best for DWC is rockwool, cause it keeps your water nice and clean.
I start all my seeds and cuttings in a mini DWC cabinet with 2 CFL's. i use 35mm PVC piping cut about 150mm long with a 45 degree angle cut at one end.i wrap tape near the top of the flat end of the PVC to prevent it from falling thru into the water.I buy slabs of rockwool and cut them myself so that the thin layers of the rockwool slabs are vertical when i push them into the PVC.....never had a problem yet with germing or rooting.100%success rate so far...hope this helps..good luck man

i never dawged either of them but for me peat works better. but not even worth discussing. its the same thing. they all still popped for me to. use whatever you want but if you start cutting your own pieces do it wet. rockwool is irritating to humans in dust form. they both work so good it doesn't matter. good luck

Thanks for all the replies. It looks like it pretty much to each his own. I think I will give both of them a try to see what I like best:weed:
