Qwerty's Colombian Gold (600w)

I am currently awaiting some seeds from Nirvana but in the meantime have popped a Colombian Gold and commenced with a grow. It sprouted on 1-29 and has been fimmed 2 days ago. It is in FFOF (+35% Perlite) and being watered with PH 6.9 so far, plus a bit of FF Grow Big and a small amount of kelp once. She's under a 600w hps for veg and will be switched to a 600w mh for flower. Before I put her into flower I plan to take 2 cuttings for breeding. The original will be given a week or two to recover fully from that stress and then will be sent into flower using a combination of LST and SCROG.

The stakes used to hold the plant down for her LST are just something I made up in 3DS real quick and printed them out on my Makerbot.

She could look better but I wanted to FIM her early on so she can focus on all her branches from the get-go. Also, the final pic is a little deceiving due to the stalk going almost horizontally away from the camera, the plant is bent almost down to the soil, but the node spacing is nice and tight as well.

Got a couple pics of the Colombian Gold, she is doing well and getting nice growth of the side branches now with the training I've given her

Nice growth and some new branches coming in as well

2 of my seeds have sprouted, 1 blue mystic auto and 1 northern lights auto. There are 2 more that have popped but not yet broken the soil, I expect them to break soil later today or tomorrow morning.

Took 2 cuttings from the Colombian Gold just after watering yesterday evening, the pic doesn't show the plant *quite* to the point it was at, but I am posting it to show which parts I used for clones. Keep in mind this is my first attempt at cloning, I dipped the cuttings in Clonex Rooting Gel and stuck them in Rapid Rooters in my prop box, currently I have the vents closed but will slightly open one of them later today. The seam where the lid contacts the bottom half has been taped as it didn't seem to seal properly to maintain humidity inside. I will post pics in a few hours of the cuttings and the current state of the plants.

I have decided to keep the Colombian Gold in Veg and hold off on Flower until the auto's begin to flower. I have a second 600w on the way that I will install, but may or may not use it depending on how well the one can handle these girls on its' own. What do you guys think?

Here are the pics from today:

Colombian Gold post-cuttings and a small amount of trimming and training to open her up a bit:

Her 2 clones, here's hoping they root:

And last but not least, here are the 3 babies from last week:

Forgot to mention, and this should not affect this journal much unless I decide to hold off on installing the new light until the next go-round; as I am both trying to get some nice quality yields and some new seeds, I will be spraying one of the Colombian Gold clones with CS and will use her pollen to produce fem seeds on one branch of the other clone (I currently have 0 additional seeds of CG), and on the best looking Blue Mystic I have going next time to create a cross. With the cross I intend to grow out 6 to 10 of them to pheno hunt, and work on stabilizing her new genetics.

Just a quick photo update; first up is the Colombian Gold. She is doing well since I took the cuttings and defoliated the heck out of her pretty constantly, going to leave her a while now to get some good growth before sending her to flower.

Then are the 2 Blue Mystic autofem's, note that number 2 has a triple symmetry, I am going to leave her to grow with the rest, but I will say I haven' seen this... type of triple symmetry before. There seems to be a regular half, with one leaf/branch set, and one mutant side where 2 leafs/branch sets form at the same point. (See separate pic)

And here is the weird point on BM1

BM2

And last but not least is the Northern Lights autofem, she is doing well but is a teensy bit tall (as in the cotyledon point is much higher than the same node on the others).

Let me know what you guys think. I will be feeding all 4 tomorrow at full strength of FF Grow as they seem to be able to take it fine, as well as some kelp extract. Also I am slightly adjusting my fan as it was blowing just a little too directly at them as you can tell with the slight bit of leaf curling.

All 3 autos have shown pistils now, as of yesterday morning. I put the Colombian Gold in the dark close yesterday and moved her back to the grow space tonight. She is now showing pistils as well. So all 4 are flowering. Lights have been changed to 12/12 for the remainder of this grow. Subsequent grows will be predominately autos so won't need 12/12, but seeing as I have a photo on this run it's needed. The Blue Mystic girl that is sprayed with CS, while showing female parts now, hopefully begins to produce balls pretty soon here. The BM plant with the deformity in the leaf fortunately evolved to just growing 2 separate tops as if she had been topped rather than continuing to put out deformed leaves.

Watered yesterday with a half dose each of FF Grow and FF Bloom, and 2 Tbsp of liquid kelp extract, PH'd to 6.4. Also got some garden soft-tie and used it to open up the canopy a bit to maximize the effectiveness of the stretch phase.

Thanks. Just stopping by to drop some pics. After a 24-hour period since feeding I have changed to the 600w HPS bulb and tied them down pretty good to open them up.

Northern Lights

Blue Mystic 1 (sprayed with CS; note how she doubled up the branching on the main line, and then doubled up again on the next node up, this will be one of the traits I am hoping to pass on with her pollen)

Here you can see that she is producing pollen sacks within the bud rather than just female flowers (thanks to the Colloidal Silver)

Blue Mystic 2

And a quick shot of her normal female bud

Colombian Gold (yeah I cut 2 of the smaller branches off for a second and final try at clones for this run; seeing as this is my only Colombian Gold seed I would love to be able to grow out a few of her via clones...)

Love Northern lights , blue mystic would be be nice to try oneday . Will be cool to see how that south American landrace turns out indoors . Nice strains.
Haven't grown Northern Lights or Colombian Gold before, Blue Mystic is great though. Easy as pie to grow as well and super smooth smoke. As for the Colombian Gold, I intend to cross her with the Blue Mystic mutant girl. Then a pheno hunt and stabilize. Once I get a solid Photo I will work on getting the ruderalia back in there and get some nice autos for a perpetual grow. Lots of work but looking forward to seeing the results.

You plan on getting a journal going? Would be nice to compare notes.
had not planned on it. i can share some pics here or in my signature, i have a link to my breeding thread. there will most likely be pics in there.

am currently enlarging my flowering area. also had serious root rot issues and had to get away from hydro altogether. got my water source cleaned up now, so when i get that all done (soon) i will probably start a perpetual flowering thread.

Sounds cool, I'll take a look at the breeding thread.
I haven't tried hydro before necessarily, I did start a plant in an Aerogarden once, it was incredibly strong and hardy and even with a massive root structure. I transplanted it to soil easily and it continued to thrive, without so much as slowing down to adjust. Hydro always just seemed much more complex in my view so I never really tried it out. May try a DWC system this year though.
