I don't get it.... seeds are never going to be a problem,,,,They never have been before. EVERYONE HAS THEM and clones are easily found anywhere...
I have seeds from years ago....just never got around to them...they may not even grow but the last time I popped an Original Kemo crossed with some early pearl from 20 years ago...... They popped :) Nicely wrapped and in an old NON frost fee fridge since..
I wonder if that early Pearl is related to "diamonds and pearls". A friend of mine said he got a clone of d&p from a hells angel grower in the 80's and he grew it a few years, said it was the best weed in Saskatchewan lol.

If I remember right early pearl was a cross of early girl and silver pearl. Early girl was a solid outdoor strain and silver pearl was a much biker loved indoor strain.
None I recall be super potent but very solid producers.
Cheers :)

Yeah that's one of a few, the road kill skunk has been watered down over time and lost, unless someone has a cut around it's history.

However, all of those strains and cuts were created once and can be re-created. Working on exactly this right now and getting closer. I've found a male that smells up the house when I'm vegging and flowering it, it literally smells like a skunk pissed all over the house. Will be doing about a 50 seed hunt for a similar smelling female in that line when I get back to popping seeds in Feb. and eventually cross the two to see what happens. Worst case I'll end up with some very dank weed

Not that there's any shortage of seed banks or breeders. But I got into making my own after experiencing what I was pulling out of commercial strains. There were certainly a few gems and still are. But the majority of what I've run in commercial seeds is watered down crap, unstable and if I'm going to hunt down one potential keeper in a pack of seeds, I'll do it with my own crosses. For the most part it feels to me like we're paying for testers with most of what's out there.
That is part of the key, the plant has to have that smell in veg, back in the late 90's I used to pop beans and they would reek up my house just in veg after about 2-3 weeks from seed, basically soon as they had a few sets of leaves I would smell it, just brush past one and POW full skunk just from a vegging plant, now a days maybe one plant out of like 100 will have a good weed smell in veg but still not that skunk. Keep me posted, i do have a few smelly males, maybe I can send you some pollen to play with.

We are talking good seeds and clones not the BS you are used to my friend. Real skunk, real haze, real sativas etc etc.... NL # 5 the real deal. Not the bunk ass shit most you guys around the way have.

Thanks for the offer on the males but I'm barely keeping enough space to keep about 18 strains/phenos going, including 5x nice males. Yeah that male I pulled from my BX1's was exactly that skunk piss smell in veg, the F1 male I had been using also had it. On the most current male I didn't even realize it for a few days because I'd just pulled a run from my flower room and sometimes I get a bit of smell when they're wet/hanging or I'm trimming. After I had everything back in order and trimmed/hung my GF came home from work one day and asked me to change the cat litter because it was all she could smell was cat piss and was thinking it was the cat litter box in the basement. I had just changed it so I knew that wasn't it. Then I went into the veg tent and boom, right in my face. Pulled them all out one at a time to figure out which one it was and it was this bugger below, still in the party cup and smelling like a skunk had just pissed into the cup! I got it into a 1gal and took some clones about 10 days later, have 3 clones going at any time now :)

I've seen enough tester phenos pop from that BX1 cross to know there's more in there. It passed down through the F2's to the BX1's so there's a pretty good chance I'll find a female with this trait. Still have about 300-400 from that batch. Will run a bunch at a time and select strictly from their smell in veg until I find a female (or three!).

Did you get the pack from the USA or from overseas? if it came from overseas it was created overseas and not the same as the USA stuff.
USA, grew out 501st OG and it was mediocre at best. im sure i just got screwed on the phenotypes i got and theres badass stuff in there but its rare that i pop a pack now a days and dont get at least one keeper. now ive got stuff in my stable just under and just over 30% total cannabinoids and still looking to hit mid 30's eventually

If they are never going to be a problem then what about all of the strains we have lost?
I remember when kemo and early pearl both first hit the market . Especially the kemo everyone was apeshit for lol

They came from Aurora LP. They will not tell me what genetics they are using lol
I Wonder what the implications for aurora will be. They gave it another name but still market it as their "ghost train haze". Its my understanding that you cant patent a plant, but you can patent the process for making it. So if RD were to patent his GTH in canada aurora would be fucked unless its a more complicated cross than just a GTH F-something, I think.. Honestly lawyers are gonna be the biggest winners with this "legalization".

Think Monsanto and how they protect GMO's like roundup ready wheat. It can be done. There is precedant for it, and few breeders have the pockets to withstand a legal challenge from a Monsanto.

The loop hole with cannabis will be tissue culture, but we will only have to go down that road if someone actually patents a desired strain, say like they brought back real Road Kill Skunk or something crazy like that.
