"Recharge" nutrient in RDWC

How do you keep the molasses from fermenting? I use autopots and used recharge in the res a few times. Super messy and fermented.

I just add it to the trays now if I want recharge. Otherwise it’s hydrogaurd or Continuum in the res.

My only thought is..... if it were better for hydro than sterile, why do the commercial ops run sterile?

Hydro is probably the worst for running organic matter.

How do you mix in the recharge into the res?Do you do whats on the package? 1/2 Teaspoon per gallon?
After the nutes and ph, I’ll add the recharge. Let it sit for a day. The water will have residue but just stir it up. I do 1/2 tsp per gallon. I was adding recharge every watering but now I’m doing it once every week. Seems to be fine. Still haven’t needed to change the water. Roots are still white and water is clear.

Thanks for the replay, first DWC and starting to notice root rot, tried hydrogen peroxide didn’t work, now using hydrograud and that seems to be doing ok..

When you say let it sit for a day, what do you mean by that? Like you mix nutes and ph it then add recharge to an empty bucket of water? And let that sit for a day? then move your plant over into it? Or do you mix everything in the same res the plant is sitting in?
Also do you use air stones? I’ve read that some people don’t like using it with recharge cause it produces like a lot of foam

Yeah. In a separate bucket I add all of it. Then when the bucket the plant is in gets low, I’ll add from the new bucket I made.
So I grew for years with hydroguard and it worked fine. Had root rot a bunch and the roots weren’t as nice as I’d like most of the time but then all the sudden I had nasty slime that wouldn’t go away with t the hydroguard. Tried everything to get rid of it and the only success I had was taking away the hydroguard and using recharge.

I am a newbie. I run sterile. RDWC.

I am confused. I use nothing but my nutrients and a dose of h2o2, when i change.

What's confusing is, that I read that people put a tea in, not sure.

All 4 plants in 4, 27 gallon totes. One 5 gal sump and one 5 gal pump out tote. 3 large air stones in each plant tote

I flipped tonight. My plants are 40 day veg today.

Look at my plants and tell me what I should be adding? Because this is my first grow.20240228_181424.jpg20240228_142541.jpg20240228_135610.jpg20240228_135650.jpg20240228_135720.jpg20240228_135759.jpg

Your plants look nice. Good white roots. I’ve tried everything to keep a sterile grow and the same slime comes back with a vengeance. Looks like you have done some homework for being a newbie. I’m new to this tea as well. I’m using recharge instead of the actual tea because they are similar. I’m still having a hard time getting the roots white but I’m starting to think that it’s not necessary. I’ve grown two incredibly nice plants and the roots were a little brown throughout the grow. I still got 8 oz of my first plant and I just harvested the second one a few days ago. As far as your grow, you’re doing fine. No need to change something that’s working.

I wouldn't add anything. Your plans look good the way they are.

How do you know all commercial growers are sterile? This is case by case and in my case this is easier and better. Letting nature clean the mess instead of me.

Because a commercial op, isn't going to take any chances. With sterile, you get no bacteria or fungus, good or bad.

I used to run bennies, until I seen a buddy, that used bennies, lose his grow to bad bennies, that overtook the beneficial ones.

I then switched to sterile, along with my buddy, and neither have had problems since?

How is your method easier and better? I'm curious to know.

Either way, it's your grow. Add whatever you like.

We all run the same risk sterile or not. The only thing I do is add recharge to my water every couple weeks. I don’t have to change my water and I save money. Compared to sterilizing everything constantly and hoping I didn’t miss anything. I do clean things between grows but I’m not worried it will cause problems if I miss something

For sure. I get it. Using pool shock is what is easiest and best for me. To each his own.
