Recomendations please!

This will be my first time :weed:. I will be making a grow-box, using sog, based on requirements of strains I choose. Box will have odor control. I would like 1 sativa dominant strain with psychedelic effects and 1 indica dominant strain. I Plan on having 3-4 of each flowering at a time.

I am aiming for:

- good/forgiving for beginner
- prefer low flower time (willing to wait, for good sativa)
- good yield
- potency is prefered

Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :clap:

ps-I've had super skunk and it's good, but I would like something different.

This is a GREAT question.....

Indica's are quicker flowering, usually stronger couch lock effect and more forgiving.

Pure Sativa's I would say forget about! Super Silver Haze is a great strain but unless you are growing Reefermans specially selected SSH I would say pass...

What type of light(s) will you be using..

Using a single box with a fast indica and a slow sativa is something that should be attempted a little later.....
Also, again, cept for Reefs SSH, Sativa's are not known as heavy yielders

Ive had good luck with AK47, Chronic, White Russian is a breeze to grow! Those 3 from Serious
Warlock from Magus was easy as was Soma's Buddha Sister
Sweet Tooth 3 o4 4 and Blockhead from Spice Of Life grew themselves! But they may be hard to find!

G13xHaze either from Reef or barneys may be something you might like, the G13 cuts down the Haze Flowertime...
Reefs Mazar-i-Shariff was also an easy plant!
DNA's Cannalope Haze was a C99 type grow

Currently GHSC's Train Wreck is currently doing very well but it's not finished so I can't talk about the finished product!

Lastly White Rhino, Papaya, Ice and AK48 (Nirvana's AK47 Knockoff) are strains that would be fine in any grow! If you can afford it a few dollars more GHSC's White Rhino is a fine medicinal strain!

Really, it's gonna take an HONEST evaluation of YOUR growing ability, of your growspace and lights and your veg and flower space..... If veg must be brought to flower simutaneously then THAT will also affect your choices!

First, thanks for your reply, it will be very helpful. I plan on using hps for flower and mh for veg/clone. I will be in an appt so 700watts total will be about max I will go. I can't say much about the growspace as of yet, still in planning stage. I would like to limit it to about 1-1.5m tall, but I don't really have any width/depth limitations. I will use 2 boxes if necessary.

And I should've been more specific, I meant sativa dominant for the first one :) Also, it probably would be best to bring from veg to flower at same time.

My growing ability is lacking right now, but I will be doing a large amount of research before starting. I am excited I am finally able to start growing, and plan on doing everything to the best of my abilities!

White Widow or AK-47 as suggested would probably fit your bill. Both pretty powerful, the AK is generally shorter and better producer but both lean in the Sativa high direction. I would try to get a 50/50 or 60/40 (Sativa/Indica) for your height requirements. If you want to see a pure Indica side by side with a mostly haze check out my grow... the Sativa was much taller and is tyed over which you can't really tell from the pic.

AK47, Bubblegum and Kali Mist from Serious Seeds.

These three will give you a great variety of sativa highs - soaring, euphoric, energizing. It's always nice to have a bit of variety. Get 3 or 4 seeds of each from Pick 'n Mix and it'll cut down costs and you'll still be fairly sure of getting a female (97%-99%, forget exact numbers)

If only one - AK47.

Winning 100 High Times Cannabis Cup means NOTHING!! Have you ever been to one of those things? The "judges" are loser lightweights who care more about Freebies and Parties than Cannabis...

I would gather 75% or greater of the judges do NOT try every strain! You can vote starting day 2 and you can vote if you have only tried 1 strain!

I give ZERO credibility to the HTCC and even LESS considering that AK47 has won both the Indica Cup AND the Sativa cup!

Simon is an arrogant a-hole who screwed serious up BIG TIME!!(Ask him why they went to 10 seeds sometime, although I see sales are bad cause they are proclaiming "NOW with 11 SEEDS!) They were completely out of stock for awhile,had SERIOUS quality control issues and they have reformulated strains and continue to do so, that's why pre2K Chronic and Kali Mist are Da Bomb while Post 2K both those strains have gone down hill.....

I recently purchased a new Chronic from the re-tooling so we will see what they did.....

And why not the special cherry pheno available only from Nirvana's AK48 (again, Nirvana is a copy machine who steal other companies genetics, so don't ask me HOW this root beer pheno expresses itself, its like the princess/Genius/C99 thing... It takes a stretching of credulity and a suspension of belief.... But then again, ever heard the story about how Soma started HIS line???)

Look, AK is a very good strain, I have grown many versions of it! Is it as good as when it was "selected" for it's indica qualities(When it won the HTCC Indica Cup).. Doesn't matter if you can only buy the new ones!!
But in 2008 there are so many better choices (For YOU to discover, not for me to tell you)

Again.... Just to clarify... Im really just venting... I am NOT saying AK47 sucks (by any means) but I am saying the HTCC does suck!

I don't have all the inside knowledge that Red has but yes most everyone knows HTCC is just a party and doesn't really mean anything. I've watched many video's of HTCC and do you guys remember the one where they chose a hash that was total crap instead of the clean perfect bubble hash. Soma just went off about it and they left that right in the video. I don't recall what year it was, I think the year they had those cannabis castaways with the cute brunette.

dude pick and mix reclyning buddha or buddhas sister... supposedly good for sea of green (although not propper thai :( still apparently real good) and apparently good for SOG :) like i said....

I think sativas are usually an outdoor strain... which is too bad because I only like sativa highs. But anyway, I will list my opinion of the best strains and an explanation for each.

Best Sativa: Durban Poison. This is best to grow outdoors so I wont bother.

Best Indica: AK47. If you can get a hold of this, it is probably the most potent indica I have smoked. I toked up at the mall and all I can remember that day is being scared out of my mind because I saw hannibal at the halloween shop... lol. It's moderately easy to grow too.

Best strain in the world: SUPER SKUNK: This stuff was my first smoke and it is an indica/sativa mix that is easy to grow, has good quantity and is very very strong. The only problem is that if you are growing indoors you are going to need very good odor control because it is a strong smelling plant... unless you have a pet skunk in your room everyone is gonna know whats going on. =]
