I prefer to let it sit in the sun, in a dry place

for 6-9 months

water it every week, keep it covered with plastic

and adding any good shit at hand

but no chems

manure, blood, green and brown matter etc

good luck

Just recycled my soil today, added some more compost, coco fiber, perlite, charcoal, kelp meal, crab meal, oyster shell flour, seabird guano, fish meal, earthworm castings. Then I mixed it all up, going to brew an AACT to water the pots with once the dry out more. Going to require a couple more teas throughout grow while amendments breakdown but very simple and quick.

What is the most efficient way to recycle (recharge) potting soil .........and how long is necessary
Thank you....
in my opinion the best way to revitalize a soil is to compost it, use it as a carbon input and layer thin amounts of grass, or alfalfa or similar "green" input, add thin layers of fallen tree leaves, sprinkling water on it as you layer, and then tarp it, turn it every week or so, and in the end you'll have all the microbial diversity you can ask for, pure humus, and a nice even amount of all the needed macro/micros.
fallen leaves, good enough to power massive trees, good enough to power massive colas.

i re-amend 1:1:1:1 old soil, fresh compost, vermicastings, and peat (or coco or biochar) plus a half gallon of bokashi per 20ish gal of soil and appropriate amount of lime and bone meal. ill add other amendments too if i have them around

sounds like a lot of work! Im sure you are getting great results non the less but, to the OP, I simply put my spent soil aside, when there is a big pile of it I will add A LOT of worm castings, and worms, if I have some dry amendments on hand I might use some but not necessary. That's it. I start using it right away generally. Key to success is lots of worms, so store bought worm castings won't cut it.
