Going to be starting a worm bin so I need worms and was hoping for good advice from RIU folks. I live in South Central US.

I work at a bait store. Whole different volume and marketing. Bait worms are mostly European Nightcrawlers and Canadians.

Check out uncle jims worm farm or Amazon sells composting worms through them. There are many other vendors too. They usually ship only on certain days so the worms won't be stuck sitting in a post office over a holiday or weekend and they won't ship worms out in extreme cold or heat. Think I paid about $14 for 200 red wigglers shipped to my door. They come in a breathable fabric sack. Make sure you've got a home ready for them before you order so they can get right into their bedding when they arrive.

I'd really suggest a blend of RW and Euros, 1/2 of each. This combo has worked well for me the last 5 years or so.

Most worm places offer this combo, just check around.

Richard D is correct, get the bin set up a couple of weeks before ordering the worms and get something rotting in there.

I just received 2000 Red Wigglers today from Uncle Jim’s for $42. I had a bin set up already with Europeans in it. I’m not sure what, if anything, a blend of different types of worms will do but we will see soon.
