Regular seed setup

So... Iv wanted to grow regulars for some time now but Iv never had the space or patience to sex them and pull males.

Here’s my setup and what I’m thinking. Currently growing in a 12 pot flood and drain. It’s 12 pots so I can’t pull males after i flip or it would be a waste, I’d be short some pots and loose out big time. Main reason iv stuck with feminised.

I have a 1.2m x1.2m tent and a Mars Hydro 1200. I’m not a fan of Mars but I had some pretty good results and fast growth when I vegged under them. My plan is too throw all 12 regulars into the veg tent under the Mars. Grow them out for and take 2 cuttings off each. Should take no more than 4/5 weeks. Then put the cuttings into an aerocloner under a T5. Flip the veg tent and find the females. By the time I have all the females picked, the clones should be established enough to put into the main tent.

My current grow has just been flipped and will hopefully be finishing up in 7/8 weeks. So from my calculations, I need to get started pretty soon.

Do you guys think this is the right idea or have you any input?

Cheers :bigjoint:

Now I need to decide which regs beans

Cosmic Glue by TGA
Agent Orange by TGA
Dark Plasma by Oceangrown

I’m leaning more towards the Dark Plasma as it’s mostly Indica while both TGAs are more stavia dominant. I want to pick a mother and run them again so trying to keep flower to a minimum

That's kinda how i go through regular seeds but i flip and sex the cuts then take multiple cuttings off the moms that i want to flip!
What medium are you using? That may be an idea. I want to use clay pebbles next so I could keep the Mother’s in coco and clone in the aerocloner disks for the pebbles. How long does it take from when you take a cut for it to show sex?

Depends on how long it takes to root... After its rooting in, you can determine sex of a plant usually within 7 to 12 days of 12-12 photoperiod.

I grow in 60% promix,20%coco,20% perlite. I clone with an easy cloner so it takes about 10 days to root then I transplant them to a solo cup and put them straight into the flower room, shows sex in like 7ish days, males usually show sex faster.

Thanks guys. I think ill grow them out into mothers so and sex the clones at least that way I can fill the 12 pots even if I get only a few females. I was going to germ about 12 Dark Plasma and 10 Cosmic glue so I could get enough but cutting from the mother defiantly sounds like a better option.

Im working with a 1.2m2 tent. Im not sure how many females I'm going to get so what size pots would be best to keep them in? I could grow them for 4 weeks and then use the tops as the clones for sexing. That way it will be vertical growth for the first few weeks until I know whats what. Otherwise we may be over crowded

3 Gal pots will be cool - 5 is probably too overkill if you want a few fems in there : )

Grand job, I was thinking about 3gal alright. I'll start them in bio bizz all mix soil. Should have enough food to keep them going until I know what I have then ill throw the males and start them on a proper feed. The all mix should keep the growth slow enough so it doesn't turn into a jungle lol.

Hopefully I will get a few keepers out of the Dark Plasma, iv been reading up on the Ocean Grown thread here and a few are getting packs of hermies

dont forget the trays add a little more width to each pot, best to measure up the pots etc against your space. I'm ordering some smart pots this week in 3gal size. I think 5 gal is overkill but im sure someone will say it maximises the crop... sure it can... but seen just as good results in 3 gal pots and smaller :)

I have a big 1m2 tray so they should all fit nicely into that. I reckon I’ll fit in 15 2gal or 10 3gal. It will be a little tight but hopefully the LED will have good penetration.

How do you find the smart pots compared to plastic? Ah yeah 5gal is all well and good when you have the space. I might fit 4x 5gal pots in my space or I could go for 10x 3gal. I know what I’ll be choosing :blsmoke:

It's going to be the first time with Smart pots but heard too many good things about them to leave it without a try :-)

Plastic containers can break too easily as well, all a big mess and pain in the ass... i'd go with the 10x 3gal for damn sure! :P
