Remote monitoring system for flood and drain system...

Hey Guys,

How's it going? I have a grow room in a very remote area which I have setup to pretty much run itself I run dual air-cons, dual dehumidifiers, it has a generator, etc. I visit once every week to adjust the nutrient solution and that's about it. I'm very happy with it.

I remotely monitor the whole thing by PTZ cameras mounted inside the tent, fixed cameras pointing at all the monitoring control systems (bluelab guardian, bluelan ph doser, sentinel c02 doser, rh%/temp gauge, etc)

It works very well until today... one of the worst things that could go wrong did - the flood and drain controller died... I checked the camera this morning and all my plants were drooping to hell, it was a mess. They must have been without water for 2 days as I was so busy I didn't check the camera yesterday. Anyway, I rushed over, gave them a feed and they have looked to have mostly recover now.

So it got me thinking, how can I remotely check the flood and drain is working? I'm running 8 buckets all connected on the same water loop, so I only need to monitor one to check.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Or look around and setup a raspberry pi to monitor the sensors and setup a point to point for the link to get it on your network and have it send you alerts via text or email.

Thanks man. I already have internet in the grow room (that's how I check my cams, etc) The raspberry pi sounds like a good idea I will look in to that. I've been looking at moisture sensors that I can install in to hydroton on one of the pots, so maybe I can connect one of those up to a raspberry pi and monitor that way.

Sensorpush- data logger send high/low temp/humidity to your phone. You would have received a text saying low humidity alert once it dropped below your setpoint. Leaks show up as high humidity.
