root bound proof container

i know i saw something somewhere about these temporary containers that wrap around the soil and they are plastic and kind look like eggfoam.

they keep the roots from swirling around when starting in it before it is transplanter to the outdoors.

does anyone know what i am talking about?

i need to find those crazy pots.

it is a container that wraps around the soil.
it is plastic and fastens to itself to make a cylinder.
it looks like the stuff they use to soundproof rooms, but it isn't foam.
:wall:
the nooks and crannies keep the roots from going in a circle, so when you release it, they have no problem with being corralled by themselves.

yes, very interesting, nice find.

does anyone know if they make net pots in a square shape?

another thing, if you made many holes all over your pot, would it have the same effect

i dont know, but im pickin up a bunch of those #4s within the next couple weeks, n gonna experiment with them in my next grow for sure. +rep for the find, n seriously man, you probably just reduced the size of container that people have to grow in to get a massive bud plant. Im just speculating, but from what i just read n watched, it looks like we could actually use somethin like a 2.8 gallon one of these and get the same results as a 5 gallon pot would. No more rootbound plants. WOW.

stupid question coming up.........ummm why, are root bound plants less effective at absorbing nutrients?
so less organized roots, will outperform, loads of messy roots?

regular net pot would have the same effect right????

i thought you were talking about something different... its a crazy, kinda square shaped pot with stepped sides and such; supposedly combats the "root boundness".. i'll try to find them....

Nice find I think Ill order some of the 4 inch pots to start my vegies in this spring should help out when it comes times to transplant them, and I think I'll get 5 of the big ones to grow my indoor with.

Netpots are great for growing hydro, and in rare cases, can produce some fuckin monstrous plants if grown out right (See NowStopWhining, or NatMoon's grows -- thanks guys). But these arent for hydro, theyre actually made for soil grows, and me personally, ive never seen anything like those before man.

Those are freakin awesome, lol. Pickin some up man, as soon as i can afford to, cuz they aint cheap thats for sure. But if it allows me to use smaller pots with the same result, then theyre worth every damn penny n then some :D

thanks for looking, i dont really like it though, or maybe i dont get it.
i cant find 6 inch square net pots, close as i got was 4 and 9 ( for sog application)
i checked out the grow journals that king recommended, they put sponges with air hoses inside em, and that increase o2 to the media.
does anyone know if its possible to do the same with a single stronger air pump, branch it off to multiple pots

update

well went through one cycle with these pots and i must say, they produce quite the root zone.
i vegged three different plants indoors with them and transplanted at 3 feet to outdoors, two in pots and one in the ground.

very easy to use, just unwrap and stick in the ground.

so i give them the big :hump:
