Root breaking in rock wool

This has happened to me like 3 times so far, after they sprout I place them near the top of the inside of the rock wool and some times they will twist and snap the root, killing the sprout :(

what can I do to keep this from happening?

if your not soaking the rock wool long enough< it stays fairly hard
but your probably being to rough with it, or using your hands

not a fan of your germing technique, exposing the tap root is just asking for trouble

Done this with success, germ in jiffy pellets, transplant into wool slabs, but if your a noob, you should just grow in soil ... jiffy pellets into soil, doesnt get an easier than that

Use some rooting powder too. Dip the tap root into rooting powder before you put them in the rockwool. I've found even if you break your tap root that if you dip what is left of the germed seed into some rooting powder it can save them! This has happened to me a couple times when I was trying to pull the germed seed out of soil where I've had a few all together. I snapped the tap root and only had like the seed leaves and about 1/2" of root. To save it I just dipped the end of the root into the rooting powder and stuck it into the soil with the seed leaves sticking out and the plants just took off!

make sure you soak them in water that is the proper ph......im not sure what ph that is because i have never used rockwool but i believe its around 5.4 or 5.5 (don quote me on that i could be wrong)

You should soak them for about 5 min in 5.5 to 6 ph water. Sometimes I take a pen and make the hole bigger to slide the root and seed into the cubes. Same thing with dirt too.
