rotting stalk

the main stalk of one of my plants has a dark grey mold on it. its shrunken and cracked but the plant still looks healthy, can anyone shed some light on this?

Sounds like you have a bacterial canker or some type of nasty fungal infection.

If you have other plants, you might want to get it out of there.
