I use pro mix r a similar product in my seed starting. I generally start about 2,000 plants each spring. I ran out. I can't get anything locally so my only option is to spend six hrs driving spend 80 bucks on gas for a 24 dollar bale of soil or mix my own.

I mixed 24qt. of perlite, 3 cubic ft of ground peat moss and 2.5 cups of pulverized lime. Think it will work ok?

couldn't find any vermiculite locally.

Sounds like a nice starter mix. Sterile and well drained.
Thanks for the reply I thought it sounded good to just scary the first time. I think I will just start with 5 or 6 trays of plants and see how they do before I do the rest.... I have about 52- 32 cell trays left to start...

The only issue I ever had with DIY seed starter soil was compaction (and over watering on my part)

Most recipes are something like 1 part pearlite by weight, 1 part screened compost, and 1 part peat or coir
