Sea Of Green Drain to waste

I'm looking into starting my first SOG. My goal here is to make my way up to a perpetual SOG consisting of (4) 4'x4' tables each containing 32 plants of an 8 week strain of my choosing. Each table with its own drain to waste drip system (for use in my amended coco) Each table with its own 600w HID. I realize that puts my watts per ft2 at about 37.5 per table. A little low yes. But I will also be supplementing with CO2 to ideally make up for that slight disadvantage. However for now I will be starting with a 7'x7' table same set up with (2) 1000w HIDs just to get my feet wet and familiarize myself with the SOG method. I hope to place 100 clones on this table to give each cola a 6"x6" space for growth. My question for anyone out there who can answer... Under these circumstances is it realistic to expect at least 14g per plant or 1.43g per watt???
Cheers!

Man, I am not sure about the grams per watt thing, hell I just try to keep them alive...lol

Before you can assume anything, and this is experience talking now, you need to grow a few with your preferred method and then see where all the number stuff falls. You can plan for 2-3 grams a watt, but if they don't make it through to cure, all is in vain. These plants talk, not audibly, but in much more physical tongue, and that is the key to it all, no matter the growing method. Concentrate more on learning the steps to produce such a product and the rest falls into place.

photo79.jpgplant day 17.JPGphoto (5).jpgI think 1/2 of that would be realistic. The efficiency of SOG is going to boost yield if you are skilled and conditions remain optimal. SOG is a more fragile growspace because small plants can be more sensitive and issues are magnified. I get thick canopies every time pretty much and average a bit more than 1/2 that. I will show you a picture and imagine double the volume....it seems ridiculous. Tell me what u think. These are less than 3 weeks in 12/12.

Check out my D2W thread using Hydro Halo Drip Rings as shower heads. Then check out my new LED thread. Babies are in 1 liter Air Pots. For SOG you can leave them in these. Grow medium is river rock, fast draining and 100% reusable

I am not SOGing, but this set up (2 plants per ring) should work well with SOG

System is easily expandable

After writing this, I decided to grow 2 plants out in the 1 liter APs, on this tray + 2 will be transferred to 4 liter APs, for direct comparison

A sog done with 32 plants in a 4x4 under a 600 wont hit those numbers, a 1k with a wide reflector 24 plants vegged to 1 foot and lollipopped would yeild better in my experience(not that i tried a 600 in sog) total yeild may be lower but the buds will look better be bigger and you wont just get a cola full of stem. I like big single buds not a bunch of tiny ones tightly clustered so it looks like one with a 4mm wide stem through.

With the right strain/ large awings x2 lights over a 7x7 you should get a easy 14g per! More like closer to a ounce.
you will still be under lighting them but the shear amount of plants will reap rewards.

with #2 smart pots canna coco and canna a/b with aptus fisilator/
cal-mag.
feed times set to x4 1min feeds 18pots on a 3x6 table with 600
real red bulb, in a large A-wing brings on the avg 1 3/4 to 2large
without c02. Just goot air movment and some prunning is all.
veg time is just 1week to set roots.

so i know its very it can be done

what you typed is confusing, 2x 1000w hids and 100 plants to get 14g per plant would be 1400 grams, divide that by 2000w and you get 0.7 grams per watt. unless you mean 1x 1000w. I think a gram per watt or slightly over is do-able with 1x 1000w in a 7x7 floor space filled with budding canopy.

1.jpg2.jpg11.jpg12.jpg I've been running sog for years now and have used both 600w and 1000w in a 4x4 space. I have experimented with plant spacing and pot size to extract the most out of the space that I have. The pics above are in a 5x5 tent with my 36x 6.5L Wilma pots spaced 2 to 3 inches apart which gives me the same yield as packing them in for a 49 pot sog with the same sized pots. I run 2x 600w on them these days in a 5x5 tent to pull around 1250 grams. I have run the smaller 3.5L pots which are 6" square in a 4x4 and I find that the 6.5L Wilma pots give the best yield for me. If I packed the same 36 Wilma pots tightly together into a 4x4 space under a 600w with a big vertizontal shade I would yield 680 grams and with the 1000w I would yield 850 grams so the 600w wins on the gram per watt. I came across this thread while looking for info on some 8x4 tent grows running 3x 600w as i'm thinking of improving my space and looking for 1800 grams + per grow.

I come up with just over 40 watts per sq/ft. You should be able to grow some decent smoke. A goal of 1.5g per watt is attainable but with your wattage will be very hard to squeeze out. Good Luck

Not to thread dump, but Greenyield, this is beautiful and the numbers your talking are very impressive, at least to me... I just upgraded my 400w to a single 600w and after this run I will more than likely add a second 600w to the flower room. And from the looks of things I'm going to have to do something very similar to this.

digital dimmable 1000w > magnetic 1000w > magnetic 600w u should always buy 1000w if u can. yes 600w are a lil bit more effective in term of lumen/W but 1000w always yield more than a 600w. digital offer the option to reduce intensity for the first week. my 2cents

if u expect to use 2 1000w on a 7'x7' space , u better have larges reflectors. 4x600 would do a better job than 2x1000w.

I'm going to run 2x600 in a 4x8 table for a true sog with no veg time straight from rooted clones to 12/12 in hope of 13-15 grams per plant. Today I'm going to run 1x600 in a 4x4 tent with 36-40 2liter bottles hempy style vermiculite and perlite.

1mx1m tray, 9x16L rhizopots, 1x600w dual spectrum, coco, first grow = 60g per plant dried

Respectfully, I don't believe this to be true. I did SOG steady for two years and not a single plant problem. Young plants are more fragile but cloned plants are the same "age" as their Mommas...so they are small but not young.

And to Greenyield...Kudos to your garden and grow style. Most impressive.

16 liter? That's nearly a five gallon pot...when I run five gallons, I run a single plant per 600w and pull ~600 grams from it.

I would think about saving the money from buying the co2 set up to just buying another light instead. Co2 is primarily beneficial in situations when there is more than enough light for the space and heat is ranging from mid to upper 80s.
Interested to see how things work out, good luck

working on 2nd harvest for sog system...1st time 1 600 watt per 3 x 4 table...great cola's...10g maybe..2nd grow 2 600 watt per table....buds after 4 weeks grew 2 ft. with 20 branches...not sure if it was genetics (pineapple express) 30 croaded plants...good problem to have....but the cola's quicker harvest....extra 4/6 wks...any suggestions from anyone...always a learning curve..ur on the right track for one harvrst....same 4 tables and harvest every 3 weeks...smaller cloning table (1 × 4)...
