So today I discovered two small white hairs with tricomes coming out one of my plants! (& No not stipules I'm talking about pistils my friends) it's only 10-12 weeks into veg... Is this normal? Has anybody ever discovered females before the light change?

Sorry I got no pics. Phones always dead when you need it

Thanks for answering, you can google all you want but it's good to hear from a well known member. That being said, does this happen to all plants? Or only some give us the gift of early vaginas

This is true I have plants in veg and they are showing. Google is a good teacher along with DIY. The males usually show before the females do. Also males are usually taller for mating purposes years of evolution has made it this way. All the bag seeds I planted have confirmed these study's to be true. All the males I have pulled were taller than my females. And my first plant to show sex was a male. The female showed shortly after tho. I still have plants that haven't showed yet and they are all roughly the same age. Just goes to show you like humans, plants have their own set of DNA that makes them different from one plant to the next.:weed:

If you are going to do any pollen chunking, {all other things being equal} the late showing males are your keepers.

Thanks for the advice if I ever plan on breeding i'll remember that but I won't be doing any of that for my 1st grow. Seedless euphoric utopia is what i'm shooting for. All lesbians no boys allowed.

It's strain and even pheno dependent but typically 5-6 weeks. Some are just stubborn, hunting through 7x Skunk #1 right now, thought I had 4 females but noticed another just started showing at 7 weeks after a few days at 14/10. Have what I think are 2 males but neither has shown me anything yet, even after flipping to 14/10 for a few days.

I've got some Shit/Skunk#1 crosses. Seeds going in soil in the morning, so I'll be searching for males in a few weeks. Look at my post on Open Show and Tell for the full lineup.

Very nice, saw and liked that post earlier today, that's quite the line up you have going! I'm brining up these SK1's just to see if there's anything worthy for breeding up. Have a bunch of landrace stuff going this year indoor, likely stick to indoor, no time offline for any more than one garden this year :( Cheers and good luck with all those seeds, better keep them labeled ;)

I have a buddy who was doing a pheno search hoping to find the Road Kill Pheno of Skunk#1. I don't guess he found it, but he did pick the best male and female to make some crosses from. I'm looking forward to a stinky season. As far as labeling, I've got to figure out some sort of shorthand, or the sharpie cost alone will break me.

Lol, yeah I name my strains quick so I can use shorthand. Your buddy's searching for the holy grail like all of us, you never know, pop enough seeds and you can get some killer phenos. Most of my garden is diy crosses. Hit that 1 in 100 pheno a couple of runs ago with a Blue Ripper (Blueberry x JTR) male crossed with my keeper Harlequin female. Smell, taste, production, and CBD from the Harlequin. This was her from seed in a 3 gal, no training :)

Called her Blue Harley ;)

Good to hear you found the golden bean. The Blue Harley does look good.

With me doing everything outdoors, it is a challenge pheno hunting. One patch will get more food, water and sun than another, so it's not just looking at them side by side and picking the pretty one.
