If I am pulling the plants out of the room for a half hour or so to do maintenance on the lights am I screwing with them at all? This is about 2 weeks into veg...

no....not in my opinion. but there are people that may argue that this might stress the plant into a hermie? or other effects?

i can't imaging brief periods of no light (or low light) would cause much consternation in the plants. Just think of it as dark clouds blocking out sunlight for a short time :)

but tahoe brings up a good point (usually does) - so maybe better safe than sorry?

of course any stress can hermie a plant, but seriously think about what they go through in nature anyways. haven't you ever seen a thunderstorm that blacks out the sky in the middle of the day?
If you're really scared you could turn on a few other lights in the room to let a little light in, but really i dont see the purpose.

Psh. My friend had a seed that he planted out of joke, must of used it in like a million different light settings, some times with too low of lumens, sometimes with the light too far, sometimes with too much darkness, and it still turned into a 7 foot giant resilient crazy bushy female
