Slow Growing Plants

I'm new to growing and need some help.

My babies are stuck in a slow or no grow situation. They are about 1.5 weeks old and have gotten their first 2 set of leaves and then nothing... No height growth, nothing seems to be happening.

What should I do? Any suggestons.

at 1.5 weeks you seem on schedule. 2 sets of leaves is a good point to be after 1.5 weeks. how long have you thought they stopped growing? are they yellowing or wilting? what have you fed them thus far?

I have them (4) under 2 cfl 6500k not sure of the watts-24 hours. Do I need more lamps? No wilting or discoloring. I thought they stopped growing about 3 days ago. I have not fed them the hydro store I bought the rockwool from said it was already prepared at 7 Ph and had a few nutes in it already. I was afraid of burning them.

If I should feed them what should I use Peters Jack Classic? I know that might be old school, but it worked great for my flowers.

Thanks, I need some good ole sage advice. And maybe momma is a little over anxious.

jack classic would work ok, just use it at 1/4 strength. let me see a pic please before you start feeding. also go to 18/6 and if the 2 cfl are the big 100 watters (NOT equivalent, real watts) then your fine for now. if their little cfls that you may use in a lamp (13 watt or whatever) then yes get about 8 more.

They are from seed. Ok, I'll go to 18/6. My lights are equivalent to 100 watts, I think they are 26 watts. I'll go to the store tomorrow and get more or true 100's.

Looks like one of the plants does have a leaf (one of the first leafs) is turning color.

I put toothpicks in the picture so you would have an idea of scale. The smallest is the first one to pop up and is real, real short

No, I've not feed them. I water when they the rockwool is starting to look and feel drier. Watered about 3 or 4 times using distilled water.

I'm not single... yet. I'm probably too old for you anyway.

dont you have a second tray underneath that holds a bit of water? i cannot recognize a problem. they do not NEED more light at this stage to keep growing. i might have to sit this one out. is the temps between 70 and 80? also i think you said their in rockwool but it doesnt look like it....

I wouldnt feed them but Im not as pro as rzza but I think they should start going soon, 3 days is nothing it can happen, they could be working on roots - just make sure your enviroment is favorable - Seedlings like high humidity and a good temp around 78F give or take 5 degrees either way, many growers use something to keep their seeds about 80F if they are getting to cold it WILL slow things down, it has been kind of cold the past few days I guees so this could be the reason. Good air exchange is important also, It is said that the seedlings have enough food to last them for 2 weeks so feeding I think is unessecary, you could try a little vitiman B like some superthrive with the next watering.

My opinion is wait till they lose the cotlydens before feed them, this is the sign they have graduated seedling stage and plants are supposed to have enough food natrually to get thru the seedling stage.

My bad. It isn't rockwool, it is root riot. When I went to the store they talked me out of rockwool and into root riot-not really sure I like it. I went there today and they said that I might be keeping them too moist. They said to dry them out a tad, not sure about that. But they did sell me Superthrive said at this stage it would be better for the plant, not sure about that either. I will be growing them in soil, because hydroponics scare me.

Any ideas would be very helpful.

Couldn't find Peter's Jack Classic, so does anyone have a suggestion for fertilizer for my babies when they need it? BL

I've got roots! I've got ROOTS!!!! Maybe they weren't growing on the top but they were growing on the bottom. One plant is a little dry, I hope it recovers.

Either way I'm a happy woman. Yee Haw!

Nice! yes the superthrive is best for seedlings, clones, transplants..it is mostly just vitiman b and hormones , just use like a half a cap full per gallon and mix it really well. I add this to my mix occasionally during veg also but for the most part I am using it only on plants that are stressed or stunted as far as vegetating adult plants. I am using it now during the entire seedling process and it seems to be working well - just dont spill any on the leaves it can scar the leaf. It can lower the PH of your water so keep an eye on that also but that is not such a worry if your doing soil that has dolomite lime or crushed oyster shells.
