Hello MR. SMOKE ONE

Are you talking about... during the vegetative cycle? 18/6
No the light will not bother your plants..

BUT.. BUT...
I personally like to be very vigilant when it come to light exposure during the flowering cycle 12/12... can you put a piece of tape pvber the light?

It will probably not be an issue.. but... is it ever worth the risk.. ?

: )

Why do you have a heater?

remember... that if the temperature during the "lights off" cycle is higher than the temperature is while the lights are on.... this can cause stretching and hermies... yikes

and NOW you KNOWM

Thanks for the response! In the meantime, I've discovered that where they're growing, they will need no extra heat at all. But after reading some of the other questions on this site, it raised another one for me. With my first batch, I flowered under 12/12, but now I'm reading other times, like 16/8 or 14/10. So which times will really yield the most, after doing everything else right? I need the advice of some veterans here.

i think any dark period over 12 hours will induce flowering. but i know that during flowering the plant needs as much light as it can squeeze in for photosynthesis. so i think id just stick with 12/12

Yeah, Sublime, that's what I'm talking about. It made sense that the more light they get during flowering (or at least more than dark), the bigger the flowers would be. I've only done one batch about 6 months ago. I did 12/12 and everything turned out just fine. I started this family about 2 weeks ago. So far, so good.
