Snails in new bag of soil?

I think it's probably added in there intentionally for the Calcium:
tiny spiral snail shell lookin things
im using some soil for my backyard compost pile. its well broken down but obviously theres gunna be some "creatures" inside i keep finding what looks like tiny spiral snail shells. i have no clue as to what they are. could anyone shed some light

last year i found a shell dried out in the outdoor soil, picked it up, inspected it, it was empty and dried out, left it on the windowsill and a couple days later tried picking it up off the sill and it was stuck down, and a fully blown snail was living in the shell wtaf\!
