So here's my potential grow room, what would YOU do with it?

What would you do with it? That light socket has a 600w max on it.

My idea is to put one t8 or t5 running down each corner of the shower wall. Then put some sort of high powered HPS or HIS light in that top socket.

The only thing is, if I were to put an HPS light up there, would it be too far away from the plant(s)? That shower ceiling is probably 8 feet.

thats a good spot. I wouldn't recommend the bulb up that high. It would work fine, but the plants would stretch more than they need to.

That can light above the shower is only rated for 100w lamp max. You will need to bring in power from elsewhere. Other than that its alll good.

i didnt know wit was possible to plug a hps/mh bulb into any normal socket and just augment power to the socket??

But if I were to hook the ballast up above the shower in the attic, then run the wire to a socket in the ceiling of the shower, wouldn't that work? Worst case scenario is I'd have to let the socket hang down from the ceiling of the shower on some type of adjustable chain, yes?

Also, do the walls need to be covered with something white? As of now they are off-white and glossy. It's either granite or marble walls, don't know which one to be honest.

You are probably better off just removing that can or running a heavy extension cord from a wall outlet and plugging in a ballast . The mogul base is bigger than a standard base, but rewiring that light and adding a ballst in the attic is a lot of uneeded work.

OK, I'm going to the hydra shop this weekend to buy some stuff so I wanted to get peoples opinions. And it's OK to veg with blue CFL's and HPS's right?

Yes, you can totally wire up the ballast in the room above instead of next to your grow spot. And itll work fine, I would def suggest having enough extra wire to lower the bulb to about 2-3 feer off your plants and increase the height according to the plants. Also, paint the shower flat white.

No problems man, just remove the fixture at the top of the shower cabinet, putting wirenuts on the ends of all the wires to prevent shorts, and drop a cable through from the top. I don't know if I would put the ballast in the attic as you may need access to it at some time, and it must have airflow for cooling. You don't need a reflector as the shower stall walls are fine so just use the cable to suspend the bulb at the height you want. 400 or 600 Watts are all you need for your space. Good luck and keep us posted.

I'm using a shower cubicle to grow in too! Wish you all the best with your grow man - I'll be keeping an eye on this!

I don't know if a reflector would be needed, just suspend the bulb and paint the walls and ceiling matte white, should reflect enough light. How many plants?
