yes u can geminate straight from dirt. Is the miracle grow the dirt or the fertilizer? If it is the dirt, i would add perlite into the soil. But if the MG you are talking about is plant food, then DONT use any plant food untill the plant is like 2 -3 inches tall or showing the first few sets of leaves. U should only use plain water for the first few weeks if germinating right from seeed
