Update...

I'm having a hard accepting the outcome of me picking seeds based on a B.S. stoner theory - female and male seeds look different. So I tried it. I picked through about 30 seeds. Picked the ones thought to be female by shape.

I won't call it even though I've been staring at the sex of these plants and all six are indicative of being hard core female. Maybe I'm wrong...or in denial. Whatever...Ill try it again on the next grow. It's luck....right?

This might be the most noobie question i dont know but here goes lol. Why not just buy feminized seeds?

I don't buy seeds. I did once when I first started growing. AK48. Now it's a network of the right weed sellers/growers. Those that can get outdoor grown plants. Those growers always have surplus seeds. Lots of times it's indoor strains they're running.

These plants are suppose to be Girl Scout Cookie. The guy that told me has family that grow outdoors. I've gotten three samples of seeds from him. Two are hardy indica dominant with some being sativa dominant phenotype. The third is a reddish sativa. It'll grow 5-7" taller then the other two.

Bit¢hes!

Still getting use to growing with LEDs and COBs. This strain grown under a hydro galaxy 300watt, flipped at 8" tall, finished at a height of 20-22".....Twenty-two inches tall...

Now these fu¢kers exploded under a mix of 3000k & 3500k COBs. Flipped at 10" tall and they're 40" high and not showing any sign of slowing down. I could have flipped in the second week of veg at 6" and had big plants.

They're putting on two inches a day. Yesterday, these plants were 38". They're not over drying the 2 gallon pots either. They can go two days without water but are given it every other day.

Oh well, I wanted some bud. Now I'm gonna get it alright. Big a$$ plants.

This Damn plant....

Day 49 and we got ourselves Fox Di¢ks. There's all types of reasons it's happening and I don't buy that it's genetics on this plant. If it had started two weeks ago, I'd be perturbed. I grow only for myself and the weight is already there for a three month supply. She doesn't have much longer. At least she better not take an a$$ load of time. Then it'll be a Fox di¢k smorgasbord.

These plants need to get done. Not for smoke but for the annoying factor. I'm not gonna talk about the plant in the background. If I was to name this strain. I'd call them, 'Stretchy A$$hole'.

Thoughts after the grow.

Flower promix has a common ph of 4.5ph. Dolomite doesn't raise it fast enough. Checking the PH of fresh mixed and checking 4 month old aged pots. No difference in ph. The aged pots had a tablespoon and a half of dolomite mixed in. They tested the exact same as the untreated pots. Vegging plants don't mind the low PH. The effects show up after the light switch.

The new batch of promix will get hydrated lime mixed into the soil. About a teaspoon per gallon of soil. 2 gallon pot is .4 square feet of soil. A teaspoon of lime won't balance it. It'll only help. Applying the lime mixed with water doesn't work either. The soil is filtering out the lime in the top inch of soil. The lime doesn't reach the bottom of the pot. It'll take years for the soil to sweeten.

The only way I can do this is with Potassium Carbonate. A major ingredient in PH up. It's water soluble, unlike lime. Amazon sells a pound of crystalline potassium carbonate. It's a clean, pure form of it for use in hydro.

I don't need it clean and I have pounds of it. Wood Ash. Aka, potash. It's the major ingredient of hard wood ashes with traces of other stuff. It's a low grade fertilizer.

Current application rate is a tablespoon of ashes to a gallon of water. Once the PH raises and stabilizes. It's seed time. When the soil go's acidic again, which it should. Another application of the potassium...

It worked and according to the first PH test. It's sitting between 6.0 and 7.0.

Sample of soil was added to a small mason jar. Covered with 7.0 ph water. Let rest for 15mins. 3ml of the clearest water was collected. Tested using the GH liquid ph indicator.

Second test is underway, different pot. The second sample of soil was taken from the lower middle of the pot. The first sample was taken after the first pot was poured out. That one Ill consider a random area of soil.

Third test will be a sample of the soil at the very bottom of the pot. If all three are the same. We're almost there. Another single test will be performed after the pots dry out and more water is added. Run off ph test as well as another soil sample.

If it all checks out as being stable and close to 6.5-7.0. It's seed time.

My logged application rate on this. Two tablespoons hardwood ashes per gallon of water. (It smells like you're mixing concrete). Applied one time to promix that initially tested 4.5.

Weather conditions are keeping the pots from drying out fast.

Third test was conducted. They've had three days to stabilize. Sample from taken from the middle of a random pot. Placed in a jar with water.

The PH is sitting at 6.5-7.0. It hasn't gone up or down. According to research. One application a year is all that's needed. That's if the soil drops below 5.5ph. So a soil with a PH range of 5.5 to 7.0 isn't a good candidate for potash. Considering the yearly application rate. The PH should run close to 7.0 for a three month grow. If it stays stable.

Now, I couldn't run chemical salt fertilizer if I wanted to. Reading what's in ashes that makes it work. Things like Potassium Carbonate, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Bicarbonate, and Potassium hydroxide are all waiting to lock up a wrong mix of chem fertilizer. But they compliment organic.

We shall see how the next grow go's. 8 seeds are in a paper towel and plastic dish, on top of the water heater. Out of eight seeds hopefully 2-3 females will pop up.

35 days old. 6th day in flower. The white stick visible in the previous photos is 12" tall. These plants have covered the stick. Bushy-bushy. These have been fertilized with organic only teas. Bacteria fungus spray and Pyrethrin for gnats.
