Solar panels to power grow room?

Hey i was wondering if partially or fully powering a grow room with solar panels is a bad idea? Had anyone ever tried it? Thanks,
Oh also do you think its possible to power a grow room by using one of those portable power packs from canadian tire? Maybe by using a few of em, perhaps it will not arouse suspicions

if 1 meter square of solerpower will give you 80w 12v it will take hell of alot
to power a 600w hps 240v work it out

solar panels must take in more than 80 watt, what about a giant wind turbine? lol

I saw a solar panel at home depot which i believe had 1750 watts, perhaps thats enough to power a grow room, perhaps two of em is

Ok, the solar panels only produce DC current, and HPS, MH, and CFLs run on AC current..

But a wind generator, or a generator set up off a small stream could produce enough AC current. I would try for the stream or river. Plus it would be cheaper and easier to hide then the other two.

solar panels are the future. we can't buy them here privately. we have to go thru the power company. a set of panels on a home will produce enough electricity to sell back to the power company. you all shouldn't be so eager to shoot down every new idea.

they cost $10,000 here to do your home. in ten years they pay themselves off. after that the electric company sends you a check for the power you send them. as a homeowner this would be a must have. in my opinion.

I am not shooting anything down. Sorry if it sounded that way. When I was in College and learned about Solar power. It was all DC current. at least I thought it was. If that is true. I would most definiatley put a slor system on my house, and just tack it onto the bill of building it.

But I do know the other two will work for sure, and not cost as much money. The only reason I do not like the wind generator as much as the river one, is the wind comes and goes.. rivers usually run steady.

My bad, now that I think about it. down the road a few miles there is a gas powered elect. plant. that has three huge solar panels on turrets.

I watched that video on the Solar units. It never did say AC or DC current. I am sure that they produce DC current, then this power is converted to AC.

You would need lots of panels, depending on how many lights you are going to have.

I had thought about this before. Does anyone know if the power company will keep track of your power usage with solar? It would be a good way to keep them from knowing how much power you are using if they couldn't keep track of it. But if they can, it defeats the purpose.

a home setup in the uk is about £1000-£4000 this one gives out 170w 24v its not to big at 1600m x 830m x50m and not to deer £1400 but you wood need lots of them to run an 1000w hps bulb. if you get a to way power meeter you will get paid for wot you dont yous. but you stil have to put it thro an inverter to make it 240v,ac or 110v,dc

What about that one way glass stuff, you could actually have one side printed with the image of the roof and then all the sunlight comes in and blasts your plants.
