Some Noob Questions

Hey guys,

I just got my first grow setup, hoping to have a few questions answered here!

First off, my setup:
4' x 4' x 80" tent
2 - 400w (~200 actual) Roleadro COB LED
General Hydroponics Waterfarm
4" carbon fliter -> 4" inline fan -> ducting, with passive intake down low w/ ducting and 90 degree angle
2 - 6" clip fans
GH Flora Nutrients, going off of the Lucas Formula
1 - Orange Sherbet (Agent Orange x Sunset Sherbet) clone from dispensary
18/12 veg, 12/12 flower

I got the clone on 4/21, was pretty short and bushy already with one leaf that had been cut some (looked as though it was dying a little). While rinsing the soil off to transplant, I lost a few of the roots (maybe 5 or 6, but yikes!). When I transplanted it I put it in the hydroton level with the drip ring and then watered the clone in with water pH'd down to 5.8, didn't mess with ppm as PDX water registered at 15 ppm from tap. I put my lights at 28" above the plant for the first to days to try and ease it into the light and take some stress away from the whole transplanting process.

On 4/23, my pH had risen to 6.5, so I decided to change out the reservoir and add a tiny bit of nutrients. I added 2ml of GH Micro and 4 ml of GH Bloom (ppm ~220), then after letting that sit for an hour pH'd down to 5.8 and added this solution after emptying and cleaning the reservoir. I also started some LST as many small leaves were already showing potential sites for tops, and I'm planning on doing a SCROG.

I checked it again today when I got home from work and pH was up to 6.3, so I drained the reservoir a little bit and added the rest of the solution from 4/23 with 1ml of pH down, reservoir is now back at 5.8pH with ppm ~240. At this point, 3 of the first fan leaves that were larger and had been cut by dispensary where showing signs of dying, so I decided to defoliate them. I'm not sure if I should have done that, but I've basically been stress testing this plant since day 1 and it hasn't show any bad signs as far as I can tell.

My questions are:
-Will my plant recover from losing roots? (seems fine)
-Am I starting LST too soon?
-Was it too soon to defoliate?
-Should I be feeding more, or wait another week before going to 4ml/8ml?

Greetings, I have personally ripped 80% of a 3 foot long root ball off and the plant lived. It was fuxed off for a couple of weeks but it came back.

Feeding: it's a mature, hungry plant. I feed my clones full strength at first sight of roots and planted. Up to you.

Lst is never to soon.

Defoliation of mangled clone leaf's I leave for plant to feed from.

IMO

:-)

Thanks for the quick reply! Put my mind at ease about the root and defoliation. I'm going to bump up the ppm next rez change and see how she responds.

Figured I should update my post as I've had a few new things happen. I got a second clone from a friend, a cut of RudeBoi OG from Archive. I put it in coco in a smart pot next to my hydro bucket, sort of as a comparison between the two. The RudeBoi clone had a much more developed root structure, so 2 days after getting it potted I topped it and lightly tied down the remaining tall branches.

As for feeding, I think I gave the Orange Sherbert a little to much, started to notice some brown spots, so I drained the rez part way to lower ppm to ~350 down from ~600 and then added pHd water to get the rez back to 5.8 pH and ~300 ppm. The RudeBoi was able to handle the higher feed, so I'm watering every 2 days, feeding every other watering and only using pHd water the other half of the time.

Everything seems to be going well though, only disappointing thing is the roots haven't dropped through the top part of hydrobucket yet, but it is growing lots of leaves and nodes while still being small, so I'm hoping with the training I'm doing and the FIM (which is already growing back great) this one will get nice and bushy.

If anyone could help clarify if I'm doing the right thing by backing off of the nutes a bit in the hydrobucket, that would be awesome to get some feedback on.

Thanks for reading!
