Can anyone find anything going on internet using this light. led+hps together.. seems very interesting.. ive been in market for 3weeks now trying to buy a LED. havent been able to pull trigger yet. First i wanted a blackstar. then i wanted the "chrome" BLackstar. Then it switched to solarflare..the smaller solarstorm without uv-b. I will be growing in a dr60 or gl80. havent made mind on wich tent. depends on what light i pick. Was gonna send an email to the guy on ebay with the led+hps. anything you guys want to add in the email? ill post his answers on this thread. i will not consider any LED under 3watt diodes. ive personally seen 1watt diodes and they dont produce what im looking for. Is there any LED company im missing that has a nice unit with 3+watt diodes built in usa pref..will this LED+hps suck cause the 70hps will produce heat to reduce the power of led's its next to? like life expectancy? sorry for the long post. if anyone can help me out that would be sweet. i want a LED!! ive used 150hps. 400hps. 600hps. 150+400 were sunsystem old school ballast built in. 600 was yield master reflector. luma ballast outside tent. all were in a dr120. temps were always over 82 degress with 400+ with a 6inch inline ambient temp of 74. Time for LED. i think the HPS+heat made my grows harder dealing with humidity and the higher temps made my plants feed more. always had sometype of defeciency im guessing do to high temps the plants always needed/wanted something.. i use a bluelap PH pen and ALWAYS made PH 5.8 and monitor. if it hit 6.1 3 days later i would readjust. nutes i use are AN 3part nothing else. maybe that was problem also. only a 3part nute line.. anyways any help would be appreciated, Help me pick my LED!!

From the ad in question:

The P.A.R. value is 1280 umol to 1550 umol (+50 umol) and 16,600 lumins
What's your first clue that this guy isn't quite the lighting expert he poses to be?

Next, I see all sorts of specs here, PAR, micromoles, "lumins" (sic), serial numbers (why?), "warantee" (sic), EXCEPT the most important spec of all, ie what the power draw of this unit is!

For $700. . .no thanks.

At best, this guy's "warantee" is only good as long as he stays in business. (And maybe not even that long).

If I wanted to run LED and HPS concurrently, I'd just "take my chances" with an off the shelf tried-and-true HPS and a commercial LED from one of the more established sellers.

This guy is well known for posting unwarranted marketing hype and BS in his ads for his lights. If you want to get your LED light from someone feeding you bullshit to sell it to you, go right ahead... otherwise I'd take a look at the lights sold by other manufacturers, although some of them do a bit of hyping themselves. This guy outright either lies or does not know what he's talking about in his marketing material.

i felt the same way about how he has his ad written up. i also did mention blackstar/solarflare. ive got it narrowed down to those 2. wich one would you pick.. Blackstar Chrome series that is.

5watt diode Solar Flare. company is in CA. and also builds other LED's under diff names for people. seems very promising.

Blackstars have the most documented grows. just not the "chrome" series yet. seem to produce fine imo

Oh jeez - surround a low powered hot burning HPS with some cheap LEDs and charge $700 for it? Too funny... Why add the HPS at all? 70w HIDs are inefficient, put out little light, and still will cause the LEDs to go bad lickity split due to heat. Aren't the same wattage blacksstars like $250? How are they charging $450 for a 70w HPS?

Just custom order from eshine - they manufacture the majority of the LED units that perform half decently and if you go directly to them it'll cost you a fraction of the price.

I went blackstar (2012 models not chromes) and am happy with mine so far. That other company may very well be fine too - I went with blackstars based on the amount of watts I could buy per $. Even factoring in the lower power draw they are still the least expensive per watt of the well known brands. Obviously you don't want to necessarily base your light purchase on what is cheapest, but the light I could afford for $1k from blackstar was significantly more than from other manufacturers
