So i recieved some Mendo Breath seeds from a buddy...so whwn they arrived i eagerly planted them...after about two weeks or so of growth my buddy tells me the seeds came from a plant that had hermied during flower due to a light leak...my question is...if i flower the mendo breath at thw same time as my white widows...1 will the mendo hermie and pollinate the whole tent 2 and if so will the seeds from thw white widow also be prone to hermie?
Thanks in advance for any info provided

oops as for the second question. yes fem seeds are more prone to hermie than regular seeds. if you have a good grow it shouldn't be a problem. I use fem seeds only and have only once had a hermie which turned out to be the best thing ever. its been a year and I still have 50 seeds at least all female. haven't had a hermie since. I'm thinking abought getting some colloidal silver to force a hermie so I can save some pollen and do some breeding.

let's say you take a female plant, use CS on a lower branch for it to sling some bananas and it ends up self pollinating.

you had a XX plant now a S1. how does that have more of a tendency to hermie if the parent didn't hermie on it's own?

i've always read that if a plant hermies, it's in it's genetics and wasn't properly bred out. so part breeder/part genetics. if environment causes it, it's only because that tendency was in it's genetics

The silver causes a hermie thats why it grows the pollen sacks. The pollen is from a female plant and has female dna. Again the only way for a female plant to produce pollen is if the female grows male sex organs...aka hermaphrodite. A male will never grow flowers ever. Only females can hermie. So now we pollonate a female with female pollen. Female plus female make a female seeds. One of the parents is a hermie so the seeds have half of there dna at least from a hermie all the dna if it pollonated itself. Because of this the seeds have a greater chance of herming out because of stress. If the hermie was induced by colloidal silver not an enviromental issue then its true there isnt the increased chance of hermie due to stress. If you read again this person recieved fem seeds due to light stress. The seeds he has will be more likley to hermie due to light stress during flower.

i agree, but your general statement that fem seeds are more prone to hermie is not correct.

so the seeds he has are from a hermied plant. i also don't think they are guaranteed to be fems. they could just as easily be herms themselves which is as bad as a male if extreme caution is not taken. was the plant he got them from genetically hermie and the light issues brought that out ? or did the lights themselves actually cause the hermie?

not so much trying to argue but just trying to clarify moreso for my self. i'm not a breeder but i am fem seeds user. and the blanket statement that they are more prone to hermie gives them undue negativity.

Fair enough should habe specified his are more prone to hermie. Still his wont just automaticly be a hermie. If he has a good grow lightproof no problems his seeds wont hermie. It will be a female untill stressed

It's typically 3 to 5 dollars per seed for feminized seeds. Why in the name of all that is holy are you risking a complete catastrophe over what in the end amounts to 20 bucks?

My girl are on a 18/6 light schedule and are not in flower yet...the mendo breath hasnt shown sign of sex either...was planning on pulling her and flowering her by herself...actually it was 200 seeds and they were all free

The power bill, soil, nutrients, and other materials aren't free. All it takes is one plant gone wrong to screw it all up. It never ceases to amaze me how people will spend tons of money on lights, soils, hydroponic systems, nutrients, tents and all the other bling and several months of time and energy and effort and then get dirt-assed cheap on seeds which in the end are the cheapest thing in the whole equation.

But to each his own, I guess.

You got seeds from some guy for free, hurled them into the ground without even knowing what they really were, and now are back tracking about it weeks later after you found out.

You don't get much cheaper than that, pal.

1. I'm not your bro.
2. You are the one that asked for advice. I gave it. You're taking big risks that can result in a completely ruined grow when for 20 bucks you would have no risk at all.

Then you deny you're taking any risks.

It's you that needs to move on...to maybe growing tulips.
