Something not quite right

I just completed my second grow and I am having a bit of trouble. I have grown 2 strains (ISS and the Black) and had the same issue with both. When the buds are growing everything looks and smells great, but after harvest when buds are drying they take on a tan color and have a bit of a grassy smell and are loose. What could be causing this?

heat can cause these props, do you flush aswell that taste could be fertilizer

I flush for 11 days beore harvest but i will work on the heat5, its averages betweet 74 and 80 degrees. is this too hot?

Hey jarreck welcome to the site. 11 days is way more than I flushed back when I did flush so that's not your problem. Your heat between 74 and 80 is MONEY, I wish I could keep my temps there. The "grassy" smell has to do with not properly curing your buds. What people say that grass taste is is chlorophyll from 1. Drying too fast 2. Drying too much or 3. Not doing a proper cure. As for loose nugs there are lots of variables. How are you growing, soil or hydro. What type of lights? How close are the lights? What type of nutes? Many new growers pull their plants way too early the buds might be premature.

I grow with soil (fox farm happy frogwith some ocean forest and extra perlite, guano and worm castings) I use fox farm nutes as well (grow big for veg and big bloom and tiger bloom for flowering) I use a 400W MH for veg and a 1000wHPS for blooming. The lights stay 18-22"above the plants.

Did you dry for a week and then cure? Or did you dry for a few days and then smoke! Fast drying and lack of curing will severely affect how the taste is and how harsh it is

I dried for 6 days (until the stems snapped easily) then it got trimmed from stems and cured in jar for 7 days

Always count on 30 days of cure. The first 7 just start the process. It's like fine aged beef.....it gets cured for a long time to get that good, and cannabis is the same. Some strains even need 45 days to get the final smooth, great smelling and tasing attributes you're looking for. Just try to be patient.....its hard, I know.

No less then 30 days and you won't be sorry. I promise.

Ahh see I was simply not aware of the 30 day rule, and I suppose I was a bit impatient. Thanks for the advice everyone
