So I harvested a plant earlier today and decided to make some butter. I am going to try using my Sous-vide to Decarb and cook the butter.

So here I am

These are wet weights BTW.

14 grams wet bud and 1oz trim leaves many already dried out.

Then the vacuum sealer:

Now it is tome to Prep the Sous-vide

I am setting it for 203 F once it reaches that temp I will cook the buds and trim for 1 hour.

Once the water reaches temp I will post more!

Nice set up!

I've switched completely over to lower temp sous vide decarb. Some notes and discussion is here:

I'm willing to bet that during decarb, you found the air in the sous vide bag expanding a lot more than expected. How did it go?

From the bag, you can go from decarb directly into a jar filled with oil or butter rather than the crock pot with water and butter or oil. This will keep more terpenes in your finished product.

I am actually doing it right now ill let you know the bag does look a bit inflated,

On the plus side it is awesome to Decarb and not have the entire house smelling like it.

Have you tried this method, Buck? It seems to be working for me. Your experience on this would be interesting to me.

I just finished Decarbing interesting instead of dry i can tell the buds are decarbed however then are still moist from the oils. Im going to cook the butter at 185 for 10 hours.

Opened

Had to melt some butter to get the entire pound in the jar.

And now im going to let this go all night,

I use dried, cured weed and immediately after sous vide decarb has the moist texture you describe. You had undried weed and so a lot more water came out of your product during the sous vide cycle.

The last and only time I made Cannabutter was using a crock pot half filled with water, a pound of clarified butter and and decarbed weed (1 oz dry, cured wt before decarb) with the crock pot simmering for 5 hours. It came out bitter to my taste. I don't know why.

For extraction into oil, I do 2 hours at 190F in coco-oil in sealed jar .

Terpenes get through the bag during the decarb cycle -- I know this because the water takes on a terpene smell lost but not as much. I haven't tested the weed. Probably will some day but my head tells me that the product is good. Seems stronger to me than oven decarbed.

Here's an article from somebody who tested his product at different times of decarb

So it is morning time to finish this butter:

People use cheesecloth i find my Japanese tea strainer works just as well and does not retain butter like cheesecloth.

Fits right in the cup

Super green! most likely from the fresh buds

Squeezing out all the excess....

Into the molds it goes!

It turned out not to bad well until i actually try the product. Ill be making some cookies later today.

Imbaked the cookies are great
Some questions:

How much butter did you use in your cookies and how many cookies per batch?
How many cookies did you eat?
Do you smell much terpenes?
Compared to oven baked decarb weed, is there a difference in smell, taste or high?
Would you say this was a better budder compared to oven baked decarb?
