SKs numbers have been posted here. At least the SK400+ 90/120 and the SK600. The SK600 isn't that bad actually. That being said there are other options that do as good or better for equal or lesser money. Just another option honestly.
I think the biggest issue most of us who were not happy with their lights is the outrageous claims for the coverage area of the lights. Highly exaggerated. At least with the Closet Case light I used.

Not to mention the satisfaction of making something yourself.

I think SK has their place. I like the fact that they are UL listed and IP65 (?). For a large op that needs pre built fixtures that are rated and approved they will be suitable for some users.

The thing about DIY I find most compelling is the even spread, up to date technology and customized build options. In just about every pre built fixture the tech is relatively older. I guess from concept to mass production the timeframe is about a year. Which in LED terms is an eternity.

Without Growmau5 I would never even think about DIY.
Growmau5 is awesome.. I just want to call him and say "Growmau5, you are a freaking genius and really cool.." :)

Evil, can you shoot me a link to the closet case grow?
I did not log it on here brother, if I logged everything I was doing there would not be enough hours in the day. Sorry.

I am constantly testing different things on my own so I can have the feedback for myself front and center, not heresay. I have been fortunate enough where it has worked out selling things for not much of a loss after not being happy with them or just to have cash flow for the next project.

My 8 bulb T5 is the only light I have not gotten rid of aside from my HPS. I'm always messing with different lights, strains, and setups. Even tried a vert grow a while back. Will need to revisit that later on.

everything I have tested has been on my own dime and I am not shy to talk about what does and does not work. My opinions are based on me being a regular guy and trying stuff to see what works, not people giving me free shit and having to put positive opinions.

A lot of stuff does work, but not necessarily generating the results I am after. The one aspect about all this grow stuff people forget is "preference"

And we all have different tastes, that does not necessarily mean if you use something different than me it's garbage, etc. Just means we might have different goals or tastes.

can anybody link the SK400 photometric data? a buddy stumbled into a warehouse of "SK400" for cheap and im trying to advise him on the usefulness of these (relative to HID and modern LED)

not sure if this was a different version with less modern chips, or is different from the "SK400+":

https://web.archive.org/web/20150315003713/http://spectrumkingled.com/our-grow-lights/

i dont want to steer him towards something with low efficiency at any price

Having many light sources(cobs) over a spread area than one centered light(spectrumking/hps) giving uneven light to all plants is better?
