I received this today...
In the last 8 weeks, over 25,000 people have joined the Leadnow community through our campaign to #RejectFear and stop the Harper government’s Secret Police Bill. That’s 25,000 new community members, joining tens of thousands of others in raising the alarm and shifting public opinion on this dangerous legislation. There’s only one word for that: incredible.
Even more incredible, is that there are now more than 400,000 of us connected from coast to coast to coast, taking action on key issues at critical moments. Each new voice makes all our voices stronger.
Since Leadnow’s launch just before the 2011 federal election, thousands of you have been setting our shared priorities and strategy. Through surveys and community gatherings, you’ve said loud and clear that you want to hold this government accountable while working together for a strong democracy, a fair economy, and a clean environment.
While the Harper Conservatives have been taking us backwards on the issues the Leadnow community cares about, you voted to organize a campaign to help defeat them in this year’s federal election.
This won’t be easy. In 2011, a broken electoral system let Harper win 100% of the power with only 39% of the vote. So over the past year we’ve crowdsourced a game-changing plan for the upcoming federal election.
We asked you: should the Leadnow community bring people together in swing ridings to unite behind the candidate with the best chance of defeating the Conservative? An overwhelming majority of you - 81.5% - said yes!
Since then, over 20,000 people have pledged to Vote Together for the best NDP, Liberal, or Green candidate who can defeat the Conservative in their riding and move Canada forward after the election. But we need thousands more if we’re going to stop the vote-splitting that gave the Conservatives a majority government back in 2011.
This campaign isn’t just about defeating the Harper Conservatives. It’s about defeating Harper and building a movement to strong enough to push the NDP, Liberals, and Greens to work together in Parliament after the election. Let’s move Canada forward.

PS - This week we teamed up with OpenMedia to deliver over 100,000(!) of your signatures to stop the Secret Police Bill to the Public Safety committee on Parliament Hill. At the same time, your donations have powered a targeted campaign in the home ridings of two key committee members, raising the pressure where they will feel it the most.
Now, as more and more groups - like the Canadian Bar Association - speak out against the Secret Police Bill, we’re getting ready for another big push. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, we know bad legislation like Bill C-51 will keep coming as long as the Harper Conservatives are in power. Check out the Vote Together campaign and let’s get ready for an election that will be a turning point for our democracy: http://www.votetogether.ca/
