I'm just spitballing here..
So I got into it about DO levels in hydro with this douche:dunce:, you know who you are stay the fuck out of my thread:finger:, and really started digging into research. Apparently, there's photosynthetic bacteria that can survive in stagnant water that produces O2 and can oxygenate the water to supersaturation levels. They can turn an essentially dead body of water into an environment conducive to plants and aquatic animals. Got me thinking about whether it could be applicable in hydro. I did a TON of reading last night but can't seem to find any specifics about the strains of bacteria, i don't think I'm searching the right terms. Anyone ever hear, read, try anything along these lines?

I'm thinking open res, outdoor organic hydro, without the need for supplemental air. Like a kids pool with floating rafts.

Even if its not feasible to run a whole system stagnant, these bacteria might still have benefits in aquaculture, or maybe S.I.P systems to keep the res well oxygenated.

I'll be linking articles here as I come across them.

This could be interesting or it could crash and burn, we'll see.bongsmilie
