Starting a warehouse, Need HELP

Ok,
So I inherited a warehouse from a family member who passed away which is almost 15,000 sq. ft. It has a bunch of rooms, great ventilation. And above all I got a huge amount of money to drop into it and start going at it. Where should I start? I grew back in college using 400watt HPS lights in my closet with a 5 plant bucket under it. Good personal smoke, but now I want to do it on a commercial level. Should I go back to 600 or 400 watt lights with light movers? 0r 1000 watt lights with light movers? Also got a few ideas on ways to grow with the plants getting the most out of the lights.

Please don't take offense to this because i mean none by it. But I can't help but wonder if it's a good idea for someone to jump into a 15,000 sf grow operation that can't even decide what wattage of lights they want to use. I know you said you grew before. But my advice is start small and learn all you can. Every grow I do I learn something new.

I know this, I understand what kind of lights to use. Im asking general advice, I'm an engineer. I dont plan on utilizing all 15000 sq ft just now, I thought about using some of it to breed in, but I dont think I want to make this a 10-year commitment. I may only do it for 2-5 years

Start with the basics. How much square footage are you planning to start with, what type of system do you want to use, and what is your budget?

if you have all this money and sounds like you have a decent career why would you risk it all to grow...and then be dumb enough to talk about it online? sorry if i sound like a dick this just makes no sense to me

yeah man kinda seems risky to me. just my thoughts:shock:

risk is worth the reward. come on now. probably start with 1000-2000 sq ft. wanting to use hydroponics that we are in the process of making ourselves.

Ive been hearing a lot about LED lights, but I'm more interested in making quality crop. I have the genetics. I took a trip to A-dam in January of last year and stocked up on seeds.

ebb and grow systems! 1000 watters on light movers! Run a veg room of ebb and grows and a flower room. Perpetual harvest so at least you are always flipping one. Run co2 and propane and chillers and keep a nice mother room and clone room and you need that chill lounge to make us all clap. Either that or 1000s of sog plants like a giant albfuct. I dont know why I keep thinking perpetual except you can squeeze in more harvests in a year I think. Ebb and grows are very cool. But so are rooms or drip five gallon buckets. Get a lot of air that way to the roots. Lucky fuck. Lol.

yeah I am no pro but I would say at the very least you will need 2 rooms setup, 1 for veg preferably 18/6 lighting on a timer, an 1 for flowering 12/12 on a timer. Move your vegged plants to flowering when ready an keep refilling the veg room! unlimited supply as long as you have seeds, or you can start cloning. You're probably gonna wanna go with atleast 1 1000 watt light in each room. HPS in veg room, MH in flowering room. Also, warehouses can tend to get cold make sure you are running the proper temp ideally between 70-80* F. hope this helps. :)

you would make more money if you could get in with an alcohol distributor and become a distributing warehouse.
Other than that and telecom equipment i dunno what to tell ya. I figure you may as well go big boy style and forget the light movers and just set it up with 50 or so 1000 waters in rows. maybe even set up a commercial DWC with floating planters so you can easily cycle in so many plants on one end and harvest so many on the other end. Kind of like a commercial hydro lettuce farm.

Go nothing but 1Kw's why waste your time with anything, if your going to do it do it right, do all the research you can on proper ventilation, figure out what you have and how you can vent the lights, cool tubes or sealed hoods work great but you need a means of ducting to get to them, figure all that out first, next figure out your means of growing, in a commercial setup your going to want as much automation as possible, large scale flood and drain buckets would be a good easy route to take, flood tables are good if your going for sea of green type grow. LED's I have no experience with, but HID lighting is proven time and time again, I wouldn't stray away from what works for sure.

i like the ebb and grow approach as well. makes it easy to move plants from bucket to bucket
