Sterilising soil

How do I sterilise soil? Left my mix outside by accident now I have thrips. Am I best to bin my mix and start again or will sterilisation work?

I would spray the soil line with isopropyl alcohol or pasteurize your soil in an oven bag at 170F for two and a half hours if you must. This still lets som benificial bacteria survive.

Thanks dude, if I put it in the oven I reckon the "better half" will stitch my nads to my forehead. Would boiling in water work?

The boiling water thing would be ok aside from the lost stuff in the run off.

I would set up your soil like you normally would in a pot and then spray the top and the pot itself with iso once then again in a day or two then again a few days later.

Really the same for both methods. You may find them to pair well since you may want to spray down the bottom of the pot after you start using it too.

Before you do all this craziness, you simply do not get thrips from leaving your soil outside by accident.

Sterilizing soil is stoner science to the Nth degree, but boil or bake away if you wish.

Really ought to do a touch more research first though.
