Storing seeds question

My seeds came in an amber vile. What's the best way to store them?

Do I keep them in the vile and pack them in rice (don't have silica packs) or do I take them out of the vile and store them in rice in the fridge?

Also I heard you can do it with powdered milk and a paper bag.

Just not sure if the seeds should be taken out of the container they came in..

High there,

The most important things to do is keep your seeds dry, out of sunlight and at a nice constant room temperature. The closest you can replicate ideal natural conditions the better. Freezing seeds can damage the seed so I usually avoid the fridge or freezer unless you are planning on keeping the seeds for multiple years in the same place. If your just keeping the seeds for over a season you should be totally fine.

Thanks for the response, I do plan on keeping them longer than a season and possibly years.

What's the best way to store them in the fridge? Should I dump the vile in a vitamin container and put rice in it or powdered milk or do I take the seeds out and put them directly in the rice.

To be absolutely sure to protect from moisture I would keep the seeds in the original vial and then maybe in rice to keep light away. My personal opinion is to keep it at room temperature but many also say storing in a fridge is just fine.

The best way for long term storage is the freezer with a tsp of uncooked rice

for absorbing any dampness avoid Silica packs they only work to 65%

I prefer a small tablet bottle clearly marked and added to my small lunch box collection deep in my freezer

they will last for years

good luck
