Sugestion Needed for lighting

I have a small grow area and would like to use between 175W-250W MH and HPS. Does anyone have any suggestions? My concerned is only about 12 sq ft and it might get hot. Plus, is there something switchable between the two bulbs?

12 sq feet is pretty big, way too big to light with only a 250w and get good yields. Remember, you want about 50w a square ft, but more importantly, above 5k lumens a sq/ft. A 250w HPS has 28k lumens. 28000/12 = 2333 lumens sq/ft. You should either get a bigger light, or restrict your growing space a bit.

how could you say that 12 sq foots are small area man.....some of us are wishing to have space like yours . if i were you i would separate the space into a veg room and flowering room(dont forget to separate a space for the clones too) and fill the rooms with high quallity shit

Right now I have 1 square foot grow space... just have 40 watt CFL on my seedlings I'm not sure whether to buy 400 watt HPS system for $115 total.

if you don't buy a cooltube you'll have serious heat problems with that 400 watter man

CORRECTION on this:

12 cubic feet container 4'x3'x2'. So technically, there is only 5-6 square feet at the bottom of the container where plants will sit.

I think I might have bee a bit buzzed last night....

two feet high is kind of short, and still maybe too small for 400w hps...

I do like the ebay light, Primer. Good that it's switchable and comes with bulbs. I'm scared to death it going to be too hot. Any fan suggestions?

you should buy the cool tube to use with the 250 hps... then all you need is some ducting and a inline fan and you can get the plants 4 or 5 inches from the light
