Sun Shield Reflector Heat Shield

I just picked up 2 Sun Shield Reflectors for my Yield Master II-6".
I put them on and the temp dropped 8 degrees. The room went lights out at 6pm so I won't really get good readings that I can compare to till tomorrow.
Has anyone else had any experience with them?

do they muffle some of the exhaust fan noise thru the hoods, too?

do they make those for sun systems super sun IIs i wonder....

Yes the temps are down about 10 degrees.

Can't tell because of the fan noise in the room. My 2 16 in fans coulsd use some sound dampening. I am planning on putting them back in original boxes and stuff with sound deadening material

The shields REALLY do LOWER the temp in the gro tent.

The temperature has dropped about 15-20 degrees now that the tent has aclimitized. I have to say that they are a good investment. During the summer it looks like I won't have to run the window a/c unit as much.

yea they are cool.

however, they dont make one for my tent's reflector (i have a coolstar plus)

they should look into making some universal.

moreover, when i get my cab set back up i will order some for the yield master.

i've also been eyeballing hydro innovation's icebox to use in conjunction with the shield to really keep temps in check without worrying about a/c needs

are your lights 1k? 600? 400?

Was hoping to have more info to post but I have had a ballast go. The system was down 1 of the 2 lights. So it was much cooler today. lol. More hopefully i a couple of days .... if it's not one thing it's another

What kind of material is the heat shield made out of? Is it possible out make your own for the people with reflectors that isnt compatible? I have the easy 6 from HTG

From the web ... "Strong two piece construction consisting of a high quality insulating wool liner and radiant barrier fabric."

The thickness of the materials would require a heavy duty sewing machine, like one capable of working with canvas or sails.

I am sure someone could make one but that person isn't me ... that is for sure.

Found a video that doesn't answer your question, but is informative.

I just had an idea on the material .... use an automobile sun shade (reflective silver material) for the outer shell.
And for the insulating inner liner? Maybe another automotive product might work, engine compartment insulation (VW) or sound deadening material.

a friend of mine thinks a great DIY alternative would be Dynamat sound insulation stuff.... or the FatMat

but that would be a permanent 'sunshield'

not sure just how IR blocking it would be though

ya orzz, i was thinking about the car's reflective shield also. Its clothish so it doesnt absorb heat really, and its shiny too like mylar. Im more interested about the fact it brings heat down than FLIR cameras

It is not meant to absorb heat, it is to insulate the room from the heat of the lamp.
I was looking at the sunshields I have for my vehicles (3) and they seem like they would indeed work if they had some insulation.

LB's Dynamat sound insulation glued to the auto shield would work fine. Would just have to cut out templates then glue everything up and when glueing the mat and shield could incorporate material in the sandwich to hold it all together.

With the continued success of the shields lowering the heat, I am looking into installing insulated ducting both in and out side the tent. I'll hopefully be testing their effectiveness and posting by the end of the week.

From a high of 89 F to an average 76 F so an average of 13 degrees. If I run the AC (on energy saving mode) it will drop temps to around 70 F. The tent sits in a sealed room.

I have also installed a dehumidifier that keeps the RH right at 40.
