TGA Subcool Vortex Smoke Report

Strain: TGA Subcool - Vortex


Growth: Very fast vegetative growth---grown in soil, you want to veg it about 3 weeks and top it 2-3 times so it grows into a bush. Manipulate/bend the branches every few days so that they get strong during veg stage; also use a fan. After flipping to 12/12, expect it to double or triple in size. In a 5 gallon home depot bucket, my plant got 2.5 times as wide (about 29") as the bottom of the 5 gallon bucket at harvest.


Nutes: Subcool Super Soil + Advanced Nutrients: Big Bud, Tarantula & Bud Candy every 2 weeks. Flush at least 10 days before harvest!


Yield: 118grams in 22days veg+63days flower = 85 total days


Difficulty to Trim: 3/10 - Once you get rid of the big fan leaves, there aren't a whole lot of hidden sugar leaves to trim. The buds aren't irregular shaped so that helps when trimming.



Bag Appeal: 8.5/10 - Tons of trichomes and lots of red hairs. Buds are light green with a slight gray tone due to THC.


Smell: Sour poo + fruit smoothie


Taste: Sour candy; not too expansive of a smoke but you will cough a little


The High: 9.3/10 ---One of the best Sativa high's I've experienced. Not racy like some sativa's. The onset is very fast and lasts for a good 2 1/2 - 3 hours after smoking about 1 gram. My favorite way to smoke it is in the icewater bong, but it also does great in the vaporizer! This weed will make you wanna do stuff. Helped me stay up during a 3 day weekend concert.

Comments: GREAT daytime weed. I did not want to sell too much of my harvest; made it my head stash!
You will really notice a good difference in potency and taste if you cure it for a good 3-4 weeks!!!!

was this grown from seed?

Yes it was grown from seed. Only one I have cloned so far in my gardening endeavors has been TGA's The Third Dimension (3D). REALLY wish I would have taken a clone off of this plant though, because she was sure a keeper if I've ever seen one.....

I have tons of that Vortex pheno. It's very good. However, the other pheno. You'll know it if you can find it is a true miracle plant!

Yea I usually only pick up a seed or two of each strain I want from TGA just due to the fact that I want variety in my garden. But I found this one to be very easy to grow and it sure as hell yielded great...much better than the other 3 plants i was growing at the same time. Gotta pick up some Qrazy Train seeds because I have grown that TGA strain in the past and it was also a very heavy yielder....and potent as hell. Just much more indica than Vortex.

i always get 10 packs for whatever reason i rarely get 5 packs since i've had 1:5 ratio's before on 5 packs and 6:10 ratio's on 10 packs.

Damn I've actually never had a male TGA so far, but i've only grown 5 of his seeds out...all 5 were females. But I'm knocking on wood right about now because I'm sure I'll get all males after saying that LOL

118 grams , that's 4.2 ounces !!(of one plant right?) , how much light did you use ?

Yea man it ended up filling up 4 1/2 quart size mason jars. Biggest harvest I had off my grow using a tent so far. It was a pretty damn large plant by my standards at least...just about 30" wide and about 34" tall bush with tons of bud sites and multiple tops. It was under a whole 400watt HPS and about 1/4 of another 400watt HPS. Check out my grow journal!! And thanks for the rep!

If you get the chance and want to check out additional TGA strains... I def reccomend Chernobyl and Spacedawg. My 2 favorites. I've grown Subs A13Bx and really liked that one too, probably the closest to Vortex I've had. Good skills you must have to create nice lookin nugs like that. These TGA buds are heavenly.

Thanks for the kind words really means a lot coming from somebody that has been on the forum's for a good long time!! I really do want to try Chernobyl and the A13Bx and man I've heard GREAT things about his Space Dawg....heard it is medicinal heaven. Think I'm gonna pick up some more TGA strains off of Attitude bank here pretty soon seeing as they are giving away a free 5 pack of Chernobyl if you buy a 10 pack or 2x 5 pack of any other TGA seeds....

P.S. I really wish everybody could have seen the two or 3 main top buds off of Vortex before I smoked em up....but I did this report a few weeks after my harvest, so go figure....

Well whatever you choose I'm sure you'll come out on top with some great buds. I myself am excited about this nice little Chernobyl gal I came acorss on my current run. Mint green colored leaves with plenty of red in the stems, a little lanky and stretchin, def showin those Wreck traits. The Chernobyl I grew in the past was an amazing plant. I hope you find a killer keeper whatever you decide. I have my Chernobyl, SpaceDawg, and Space Princess all chillin next to each other with a few other friends. I can't wait to discover Timewreck myself.

wanna grow some, decided to grow a gdp clone instead of a querkle clone. we will see how it turns out.

I actually just got some Querkle seeds my last order....2 of them along with 2 qrazy train. But it is summer time here in the south now and I really wanna wait til it gets cooler to do either one of those since they like to turn a nice purple when it is cooler in the last few weeks of flowering...

cat piss grosses me out, i can't wrap my head around baby crap & rotting fruit no matter how many people try and convince me otherwise. then again, most people don't find diesel to be a vulgar disgusting abomination against nature as i do.

TGA's gear is much loved for a reason. nothing i've ever smoked is better than his jack's cleaner 2 except maybe real cali grown columbian gold, but it might be even better as it gave me the weirdest "imaginary ripples of color" effect on top of it's onyx (diesel) like touchy feely euphoric high that's right up there with gold's fun floating on air body effect. further testing and digging way in my memories is needed there, but i've sampled at least a couple dozen sativa doms over the years not counting another dozen or more mexican commercials, and JC2 goes toe to to with any of them for trippy fun.

TGA picks some great parents for his stuff for sure. almost everyone seems to love jillybean & jack the ripper too.

thanks for sharing your experience with vortex. TGA's my favorite breeder at the moment, but i like what i've seen from DNA too so far and high quality seeds' haze skunk is not to be sneezed at either.
