HAHA.. i just wondered around a new super walmart for like 2 hours ( on the clock) trying to find the stuff to make this bad boy.. Let me tell you, everything is easy to find except something to use as the freeking foam cups. I ended up buying some type of kiddy doorknob hangers that are made of that foam and may work. They must have been fresh out of those foam letters that you can put on the floor ... as they had NONE of them there even after asking for assistance.. great idea though building it tonight

Go to walmart and get the Aquaculture 30 to 60 gallon air pump. The smaller one just isnt good enough. You will need the tubeing that is there with the pumps and two 10" ( may i suggest) airstones to connect the pump to. There are also reverse flow preventers you should install by adding them to the line. Becides that this was very easy to do and im sure its great.. One Airstone is not enough, atleast not one of the cheapo walmart ones. Also the walmart cheapo airpump sucks too.. thge 30 to 60 gallon is twice as good so you will be stright sailing.. goodluck finding the stupid letters.. if you go to the craft section they have these weird things to hang on little kids doors. they are like funky shaped foam pads of different colors, this is what i used as i dont have any other inserts

i cant get my clones to root... :wall:
any suggestions on what i can do???

im batting a 1000 on clones. i take a large cutting the bigger da better. then i submerge the end of the cutting under water and cut it on a 45% angle while submerged. then scrape the outside of the bottom inch to roughen up the outer skin of the stem. then i put the stalk in a shot glass filled with vita grow cloning solution for a minute. then i put it in a rapid rooter plug that i soaked in aps clone food, i squeeze the excess aps solution out of the plug so it is not too wet. then i use vita grow anti wilt in a spray bottle to spray the tops and bottoms of the leaves. then i put em n the cloning dome and add a little aps clone food when the plugs start to dry out a bit after a few days. you only want the rapid rooter damp so the roots will grow to seek out more water and nutes. should take 5 to 9 days depending on the plant. follow these instrucions you should be in great shape with more clones than you know what to do with. lol if you have any other q's pm me. rm

Why not add a drop or two of superthrive?

Maybe dip the roots in some gel, add some rooting hormone in a mild concentration to the water and a couple crushed aspirin?

could be the ticket.

I advised a buddy of this cloner for a hard to clone plant he has, the thing sucks at cloning so he needs to change up his program on it. Humidity dome is killing over half of this particular one.

what does the aspirin do???

great tutorial. not to mention, exactly what i am looking for right now. something small, inexpensive, and faster than a hothouse.

yea awesome thread just got the supplies, instead of one big air stone i got 2 smaller ones about half the size the only question i have is has anyone put a heating pad underneath to warm the water a little

i'm trying to build a clone box
if i use duck tape to attach the laps to the top of the bucket, is there any risk? The top of the bucket is made of plastic. I'm using cfls.

I'm using cfls.as i dont have reflective tape, i covered the small box with aluminum paper. are my roots 100% covered from the light?

Aluminium foil is not good to use as it will leave hot spots although if you only have cfls it may not be such an issue.

i just made this in a rubbermaid chamber with 100w of cfl's i slapped it all together and went to work for a few hours, i came back and all my clones were about as droopy as they can be(they're lying on the ezcloner plugs) I thought maybe all my stems were not submerged in the watter or maybe did it get way too hot in there. Anyway, i added water to the rez and replaced the humidity dome but left the lid of the rubbermaid partially off for ventilation. hopefully they'll perk up tomorrow but what was this likely caused by? excessive heat or maybe not being in the water?

Well this is all from what I've read, not personal experience, but it shouldn't matter if they're in the water or not. I've seen a DIY thread somewhere where the guy had half in the water and half above and they all rooted fine. So I would look at temperature if I were you. Either that or light leakage. If possible, take a flashlight and put it in the unit, close the lid and shut out all light. If you can see the light from the flashlight coming out then your roots can see your cfl light coming in. Roots + light = bad.

The only thing i can think of is lack of oxygen or possibly getting to hot in the res. I made a 5gal DWC and had some heat problems wiyh my res and had to switch to soil. It was a almost a fully mature plant but it was going pretty good wether or not it was filled completely or 5-6 inches from the top. As long as the bubbles are bubbling on it it should be fine, even if you have it full as long as there are enough air bubbles and the temp is under 75 you shouldnt have any problems. I know in mine i added h202 (hydrogen pyroxide) and it seemed to help on the brown soft roots but i dont know how it would do adding it to a cloner.
Well io hope this helps a little.
