Ice cream making machine has some parts you can rob (such as the motor) , those things are dirt cheap .
Not sure why they make the pro tumblers so expensive but I certainly won't buy into one.
I'd buy a bubble now washing machine things and just press the bubble before I spend that much on a tumbler.

So you think plates are where to spend money at?

Do you have a manual or a pneumatic press?

Manual is better; y'all are a bunch of lazy fuckers who need all the exercise you can get!

Lol. Started back at the gym a couple months ago. I sleep so well now. No more additional exercises needed.

Manual here. And I opted for a 10 ton because I don't think it takes 20 tons although more pressure and less heat may work well. I'm interested in what these guys with 20ton press/jacks actually press at, 20 is def overkill. The most I've pressed at is 8 ton or so.

Any press with a ram that is up to 2 inches will work, the plates mount best to a 2 inch ram.
Not sure they'll sell plates without controller but if they want to make a sale they will. You may have to buy the heaters and thermocoupler once but it those happen to go out I've already been over what I'm going to do, I won't pay 80 dollars for a replacement heater when I know full well I can buy the heater cartridge and wire it up myself, 710snob uses a plug on the end of their heaters but if you're going to build the controller yourself you can wire it with the connectors of your choice or just go straight into the controller and wire directly to the SSR output. Knowing what heaters they use is the problem, unless they'll give you part number or at least dimensions and specs then you'd probably be better off buying a set of theirs and then you can possibly find a part number and save a lot of money. I'm not sure how long the heaters will work but with use they will fail in time. Also I got with lowtemp because they're local. They mainly sell units with single thermocoupler and controller, I wanted a dual controller so I could monitor both plates. They were more than happy to build a dual pid controller so I told them to do it. A week or so later I was getting anxious to get my press built so I contacted them again and they hadn't built it, at this point I was a little pissed off and got on craigs and found a set of lowtemp plates with single controller , They were quite a bit cheaper than new and only used once so I bought them.

Let me add, there isn't anything wrong with the lowtemp plates and I'd imagine they work just as well and are a bit cheaper. I'm just not thrilled with their customer support so it's a personal thing. If you want to save a little go with the lowtemp.

Are the bags multi use and do you press with a silicon sheet to capture the resin or just scrape off the plates?

And as far as temps what do you go with? I was reading low to mid 200s.

Yeah like 220 or somewhere around there. Press between parchment paper.
You can use the mesh bags over if you wanted, You would have to clean with iso though.
At 60 dollars for 100 ( I use 2 per press) it kind of adds up but I haven't reused any.
I've been meaning to look at some stainless steel ones, those are pricey enough to clean and reuse.
I'm not sure of any other benefit since I haven't used SS bags yet.

What micron do you use and any pictures of finished product?

130 micron for flower. looks like this , that's probably a quarter gram or so . tasty shit and goes a long way. I miss my butane yields but the chance of felony charges outweighs the yield. That and I know there isn't any bullshit solvent left in it due to incorrect or no purge at all.

Does that go into the freezer after for easier collection or is it not as sticky as it looks?

Looks good though. Hows the clarity compare to BHO? Ive only seen some ghetto BHO my cousin made. I refused to smoke any of it as im sure he did it incorrectly.

Do you do fresh buds or,dried/cured?

Depending on the heat you press it at and probably material it usually does come out a bit darker than if you'd have blasted it. No matter, it's tasty and free of trash

So if you pressed kief itd be,more,amber/clear vs buds would add some, darkness from, the chlorophyll?

    Also,fresh or dried bud?

Dried but not bone dry is ideal
I think also the heat has somethingto do with it being darker. That and depending on how long you keep it pressed . Truthfully though I've seen really dark BHO too . I did a second press once where I would take a couple of bags and press them together the yield on the second press was near to nothing but it was clear as can be.

Have you looked at one of these.... http://www.extractcraft.com/
Designed and manufactured in Longmont, 6 bills but hey you can reclaim the iso.. 6 bills would buy a lot of iso.
